I still miss the days of the old constable!

Is it the "drug users" or the "drug peddlars"? I think that shooting junkies is rather extreme. Dope dealers however are of a different cast.
I would much rather see the three strike rule applied. Execution after the third arrest. Unless of course this is the second time you've been caught with over 1/2 ounce of crack or powder (cocaine or heroin). Then it's off to prison for life.
Keep in mind sport that the application of these rules will also set wheels into motion. You're more likely to catch a round or two in the chest by the dealer who isn't going to get caught again no matter what. It now becomes more than just enforcing the law. Therefore I suspect you'd see a lot more coppers get killed at motor vehicle stops and drug raids because of it. Executing dealers will lead to much more gunfights then dealt with now.
I prefer to take the users and after spending tax dollars to dry them out, have them work off the monetary debt for treatment by digging ditches, filling sandbags, clearing woods, etc. Don't want to work? Okay...10 years...hard labor of course. That would be an incentive to get some public works projects done. Second time back? Same thing. A little longer work days for you. Third time. You'll spend time working in the prison laundry for the next 20 years.
that would be the way to deal with junkies.

no i dont agree with that idea at all!! I was using several drugs. And I'm now sober. I tured myself in and all the officers were nice to me for the most part. I can't believe that you all would even consider shooting me in the head!! That's just really messed up, you don't even know me. I think that maybe for repeat offends- but not for someone like me that relized they have made a mistake and do everything they can to change and better their lives. Don't you all believe in giving people a second chance? after all no one is perfect. Oh yeah and isn't it your job as an officer of the law "to protect and serve" how are you protecting me is you shoot me in the head? I'm just glad that cops around here aren't as messed up as you and your fellow officers.

Drug-traffickers caught in possession of an amount exceeding the amount specified by law usually result in the mandatory death penalty - bullet-in-the-head in China; hung until death in Singapore and Malaysia.
Singapore claims that the drug menace has been curtailed, drug-related crimes reduced and there is no reason to doubt it because Singapore's law enforcement is top-notch and corruption is virtually non-existent at all levels - politicians to the policemen on the beat. But then Singapore is a tiny city state - a breeze to police!!
The drug problem is virtually impossible to eradicate completely but it would be rampant if there are no deterrent sentence coupled with weak enforcement and corruption. Democratic societies such as in the US, UK and elsewhere are havens for the consumption and trafficking of drugs.
Chinese methods of drug sentences may be too draconian for Americans but it is exactly what the US need to tackle the drug menace. It's unlikely to happen, just thinking out loud.

well we got to do something cause drug treatment is not working but isn't that a little extreme. I think there is a way to make them want to quit but first you got to get rib of the drug dealers first. how do you do that by secure the Mexican borders then maybe there is a chance but kill people for there lifestyle is sin lets kill the whole human race. if we going to do that there is a way to help but what I don't have the answer. I think we need to find the drug dealers hold them reasonable. Then help the drug dealers by finding better treatments.

It should work wonderfully. Just look at how murder rates have plummeted with the reinstitution of capital punishment!
Do I get to shoot the drunks in the head? Alcohol is a drug after all.
Users that mind their own business, and get high at home need help. Users that venture out of public and endanger innocents deserve the same punishments as drunk drivers. Manufacturers and distributors need severe punishment. But when they turn violent then you and your fellas can have at 'em as far as I'm concerned.

shame on you. what are you some mall rookie security guard? REAL police officers dont' talk like that.... (unless they're.. say... Daryl Gates, and his team of "fine" men <--sarcasm) First thing first, we're never going to be rid of the drug problem because the government makes way too much money off of it. That said... killing IS NOT a justifiable way to punish pot smokers. I HATE drugs, I ABHORE them.... I don't want to be around or see people doing them, but you certainly don't SHOOT people... Here's a more effective method.... have parents teach their children that drugs are bad... no demand... no supply..... simple economics. As a "law enforcement officer" and I use that term loosely, you should be ashamed of yourself. You SHOULD be in this field to HELP people... serve and protect, not terrify and punish.............

ok, i'm a little more liberal than some. ncic check them for previous drug arrests and if they have one prior.....then shoot them. I'd loose a neice who abandoned her two kids for a life of crack cocaine and prostitution...she's been on the street for 6 years and the way she treated her children before we took them away was deserving in itself to get shot....just like other dopers she's been in and out of jail ever since and has been to every rehab there is. She and all her other oxygen stealing friends are being helped out of course by all the liberal bleeding heart creeps, just as you see answering this question, saying that she has a problem and how could a cop think like that. to them i say go stick your head in an oven!
Hey do not forget about pedophiles! They would get it the first time they were caught!!!! I'd second mortgage my house for ammo for those sickies.
Now remember all you bleeding hearts a quote from George Orwell. "People sleep secure in their beds at night because rough men stand at the ready to do violence on their behalves" NYAH !!!

I really dont think that this is the consensus of your fellow officers -- if it is -- then we are in worse shape than I thought.
What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty and the right to a fair trial ? you really think that you should just shoot someone in the head and ask questions later ?

Well, in Singapore, drug users get sent for rehab. They got 2 tries to stay clean for the 3rd time they are caught, they get jail term and flogging.
As for drug traffickers, 15grams of heroin gets you death by hanging, same as other drugs but with varying weight can get you the death sentence too. The rest gets you minimum 5 years jail or a maximum of a lifetime in prison.
It works so far...
