2 Cor 12-13 to summarize - the body is not for fornication/immorality
Eph 5:3-7 telling us how and why to stay away from immorality
Mt 15:19 - moral personalities
1 Jn 2:16, Gal 5:16,17,24, Eph 2:3
one of your posters made me laugh - they don't want to keep you from doing what feels good, but then again that has become the be all and end all. with sex comes a great committment. the church feels it's best left to those who are able to accept the committment to each other and all that comes with it.
just becuase something feels good doesn't mean we need to walk around like animals humping the leg of whomever passes by. we are humans who have control (or should) and should respect the gift of sex/life. we have the ability and thus the responsibility to lead a life with morals.
*i find it rich that people feel the need to lie and bash the Church - that about which they know nothing. the only control is has to do with is self control - that of a man and a woman.

Which church and by whose definition? Didn't the good Lord said something about casting the first stone. And was not the same girl at the feet of the Good Lord accused of engaging in pre-marital sex. Again this is something personal and it should not the business of any bigotted person to classify others as a sinner; notwithstanding whether he may be the head of a church. Christianity is a religion of love and there is no greater love than the love of GOD. And even sinners (if they can be described as such) deserve the love of GOD and in fact more so than others. The main reason for Christ dominion over man is HIS love for the sinners of the world; not for the non- sinners. So do not worry so much of being branded a sinner.

The easiest way to describe sin, from God's perspective is : "Breaking God's laws".
The easiest way to describe sin, from mankind's perspective is : "self-destructive and/or mean behaviour".
All sin causes both spiritual pain (to yourself) and mental or physical pain (to either yourself or others). Go, and watch one of those "Who's the daddy?" talk shows, like Jerry Springer or Montel Williams or somesuch... See the shame that the mother feels, and the anger the father feels (if he wanted nothing to do with the child), and the soul-deep remorse the man who raised the child as his own had. That child is not his, yet he gave his love to someone out of duty... yet the real father had not spent a single moment in the child's life... and also knowing that the wife he has, her heart wasn't dedicated to him from the moment they met, but a physical, mental, and spiritual part of her was taken from him by the guy she was with before.
The moment you have sex with someone who is not your spouse, you gain that "excess baggage"... tales, pain, sorrows, joys, memories, and habits, that all stem from your prior flings. Whether you hide it well enough or not, whether you remember it all well enough or not... it is still there.
It takes joy away from you, and away from the one you would call "my spouse". I have heard it said that a woman always remembers the first time she has sex, and tends to be extremely clingy to those she has it with, and it is true with every woman I've known. Why is that? The Bible says, when a man and a woman have sex, they are no longer two seperate people, but become one flesh. The Bible also says that a woman's longing will be for her husband. In this light, each time a woman has non- or extra-marital sex, she becomes 'spiritually' and 'emotionally' married to the guy she's with.
To a chaste woman, who is virgin until her wedding night, and faithful the rest of her life, she has but one husband, her entire life, as God designed it to be. To a loose woman, she may have 2, 3, 10, 20 of these 'emotional and spiritual' husbands. To a prostitute, hundreds.
God did not intend for polygamy, neither in a physical 'literal' sense, nor in an emotional 'extra clingy baggage' sense, nor in a spiritual 'joined to one another' sense. He said, in essence, "one man to one woman".
On top of that, the Church did not make up the law that fornication is sin... God did. And a general rule of thumb when it comes to God's laws, "God said it, I believe it, that ends it".
Edit : And to GobleyGook and Adam C - Protestantism has no qualms about birth control, as long as it does not kill, be it a fertilized egg, a zygote, a fetus, an unborn baby, or whatever you choose to call the being within the womb (such as the potential that the pill has; whereas a condom and other barrier methods to prevent fertilization). It really is about not killing, and it's a shame you believe it's about control.
Edit2 : And to Nick R... there is no proof that the horned god, nor the goddess, nor magick, exists either. Ad hominem attacks is ill becoming of you who are said to respect all life.

A desire to control women. A blindness about the effects of overpopulation and how it plays into ecological degradation, squalor, poverty, homelessness, civil war, a shortage of food and resources, ethnic tension, etc... They don't agree with birth control and sex ed. because it 'encourages sex' while diamond mine workers in South Africa get infected by prostitutes while en route to another site or in their cabins because they work for months at a time away from home. Let's get real.
People have pre-marital sex. Legalize prostitution and help get addicts off the streets and into rehab. Let teenagers have sex. Open communication and free condoms and diaphragms are the key here.

God told us to be fruitful and multiply. But everything is interpreted by men and society.
Men want control of women. Marriage did that. It provided ownership of the woman and her sexuality. So most religions are still based on that. And all "sins" are usually defined by the amount of control it gives.
for instance, Abortion is not about saving a life, it's about controlling the woman's body. If it was about saving a life, then why wouldn't Anti Abortionists support birth control, a proven method to preventing pregnancy? Because birth control allows a woman to have fun with sex without consequence....
Follow the control..

imagine what the world would be like if this one rule were followed. think of all the homes that wouldn't be broken. think of all the std's that wouldn't exist (and if they did exist, they'd be contained by the marriage partners) think of all the heartache that would have been prevented. God made this rule for our own good. not only that but sex is the highest form of intimacy, and is to only be shared within the marriage covenant. think of the fact that the Bible (the entire revelation of God) is in the form of two covenants (the old and the new.) He planned it this way so that we would see the pattern and choose intimacy with Him in a covenant relationship with Him

The christians dont want to admit the truth and that is that there is not factual evidence that their god exists.. and it is another way fer the christian church to have control over society.. well in my belief (Druidism) We value sex as pleasure, as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energies used in magickal practice and religious worship..

Because God created sex to be enjoyed by husband and wife.
Pre marital sex is sexual immorality.
1 Corinthians 7:2
Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
