ok so we take it as read that we get forgiveness if we admit our sins so can't I just say a prayer like this, get it alkl out inthe open as it were, " forgive me for all the sins I have and will commit until I die, I acknowledge you are the one true god and will worship no other" surely then I'm covered and can go live my life. I'm not saying I will deliberately do any thing wrong but it's a kiind of just in case would that be ok?

Prayer is not only confessing. Remember it is ACTS
A - Adoration
C- Confession
T - Thanksgiving
S -Supplication.
Its not, ok, "forgive me for all the sins I have and will commit until I die." And that's it, i dont need to do anything else.
As a new born Christian we are like a baby, but instead of milk to grow, we need spiritual food.
And this spiritual food is the close walk and relationship we get from God and how do we get that? Praying and having a relationship with Him.
Remember, prayer is not all about confession. It is not an obligation, a task, a burden. It is a RELATIONSHIP.

No you can't cover all the sins for the rest of your life with that one prayer. If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you are forgiven but he wants you to Love and Communicate with Him not just use Him for "insurance" as it were. When you realize that you have sinned you need to ask for forgiveness then and turn from that sin and do what is right. You need to go on with your life alright but He must be a part of it.

If this is a prayer of forgiveness to God Jehovah.
I see no mention of Jesus Christ. God will NOT forgive your sins, without asking in Christ's name. period.

i don't believe you can ask forgiveness for future sins, only those that are - for you see, if you accept Christ, you try hard NOT to sin. while you can say it - if y ou do sin - as a Christian, you will compelled to ask forgiveness bcuase it will pain you deeply - knoing you sinned against God and hurt Chrst one more time.
now while, i'm a bit of an alarmist ( you should see my hurricane kit), there are some things that you can't "stock up on".

sorry no, you might get away with lying to yourself your mates or even your partner like that, but with god there's no escape. One day you would stand as if naked in front of him and you would feel the immense crushing pain of knowing you tried to lie to the one who loves you. He sees your heart.
