we use USAA becuase I can have everything in one place,, my checking,, car insurance,, renters insurance,, I like getting paid back for my atm fees,, and now they give a rebate for using your debt cards. They also now have quick posts at UPS stores that will post a deposits in like 24 hours at no cost.
I haven't ever gotten screwed due to fees or mis stakes in posting. And you can't beat getting paid the day before payday!!!!

I'm not in the military, but USAA is generally great with everything. I have insurance through them and they usually are very helpful with any problems I have. I assume that their banking is the same, though you have to consider the avaliabliity of local branches, where USAA only has a local branch in San Antonio.

I used Armed Forces Bank when I first joined the navy, and ended up overdrawn, as they let you overdraw up to $150 or so, since they know you're getting paid again. Had to really discipline myself against that. Switched to Navy Federal Credit Union, and haven't had any complaints with them. I do all my banking online with them, since we have moved to an area that doesn't have any offices or anything. I would go with the credit union though. You get decent rates on car loans and mortgages if you plan on buying a house.

I hear terrible terrible things about FSNB. I used Pacific Marine, and they weren't too bad, but Navy Federal has been the best to my husband and me.

I'd go with the credit union. they are usually more flexable and they also understand their clients better.
