I understand what you're saying. It's like a catch 22. It seems they make it too easy sometimes for people on welfare at the expence of people who are really trying to get ahead. I don't know what kind of help you mean...but can you talk to the courts and ask them what your options are and how you can best go about getting the help you need?

Fortunately in Canada such things are covered under our insurance provided by the Government. I would say the problem is with the politicians that do not fight for the rights of the middle class Americans. They deserve better treatment. I have been told that if you are middle class you are not entitled to any help which is crazy especially when someone does not want to tax the system but required a little help. Best of Luck

Do you have a job? You don't need to be on welfare to "make it" financially. Many people work two jobs to make ends meet, can you do that? Maybe work a second job on the weekends. If you don't have children, then it should definitely be easier for you to be financially independent. Most cities and towns nowadays have public transportation, you can bike to work as well. Its possible to hold down a job or two and "make it" and you don't always need taxpayers money to help yourself, really most people on welfare don't even try. It might also help to make a budget of your expenses and cut out unnecessary things for a while. If you have debt, then pay off that first.
