Go and see a doctor before you aggravate your injury by poking needles into the wrong places on your body. Do you know how much anesthetic to use? Are you even allowed to purchase such anesthetics?

You are better off with an ointment that you can apply or get temporary relief with the spray can that athletes use. Best advice is still to seek a proper medical attention.

Dear Kelsey,
First of all, please understand that I feel so badly for you and I live continuously with chronic pain. My concern is that the medication you have is legal. If so, they should have counselled you on how to give yourself an injection. Most analgesic (pain killing) injections, have to be placed absolutely in the proper spot or they will not help at all, in fact can cause harm. Did they recommend sub dermal, muscular, or is it more complex like a nerve block or steriod injection?

Second, if your meds are prescribed, your medical group should have a 24 hour group on line or by phone who can walk you through the process if you have already attended one class. For the most part, it is often better to have someone else give you the injection as we have a tendency to tighten up prior to a shot which causes more pain! Looking up any of the 3 options above online should be able to walk you through it! I advise only utilizing this with doctors approval.

Third, what is causing the pain? If you have frozen shoulder syndrom as I did, I want to reassure you that 98% of the cases do resolve themselves within a year. I know that sounds like hell, but at least it is pain that will disappear and won't require surgery!

Finally, one of the best and quickest pain relievers is an ice pack and heat pack. You can alternate each every twenty minutes. The ice numbs and reduces inflamation. ( A couple of aspirin or Aleve might just work wonders for you) and the heat increases circulation and healing. If you are hyper sensitive to cold, you can put an ice pack on your shoulder and a warm pack on your tummy. Sometimes the overload of sensory stimulation will help to cancel out both the hot and the cold sensation as well as the pain! Cook, eh?

Neither mine or anyone else's advice should be taken over that of a medical specialist. Doctors get pain a lot. Wake the turkey up and get him/her to help you out right now. I'll keep my eye on this thread and if there is anything else you want to try besides injections, I am here to help.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and surrounding you with white healing light,

Ti

Better see a doctor trained in Pain Management or an orthopedic doctor.

Why not spend as much time finding out what is causing the pain. then have it eliminated. Treating the pain resolves nothing.
