No it wont work the Muslim community is very tight knit and asking this of a parent to hand in their child to police is just ridiculous especially when many immigrants still feel like outsiders in this country ...
would u hand your child into the police if u lived in a foreign land even if u knew they were involved in something untoward ??

Seems in the world of red-top media, the word 'extremist' (related to muslim/black/anything else they hate) can mean almost anything. Wearing dreads in the early seventies got 'em screaming - and the police then (God bless them) still couldn't come up with methods to maturely measure the 'fear' and went the way of your average Daily Mail reader.
Riots, anyone? You bet!
Wonder what would happen if parents turned their bairn in, but realised they acted on gossip, rather than concrete evidence? As the situation stands right now, the authorities won't care too much about how concrete the 'evidence' is and will put the 'suspect' through hell in the police station - and when he is released without charge, what then?
Will he forgive the paranoia or indeed become 'extremist'...even a teeny-weeny bit.
Talking about turning bairns in - would watch and talk to his friends. Jumping to misguided conclusions would bring pain not only to family, but society as a whole.

If my child did something like that? Absolutely! They must suffere the consequences of their actions. This has been my philosophy from their birth and it will be to my death.

(I would hope though, that I had raised a better kid than that)

It's in the UK? No wonder, I didn't hear it on the news either. But that doesn't mean anything. The American press only reports **** anyway. What they actually report is strictly based on whether or not it will give them good ratings.

Simple fact being child turn out the way they do because of their parents! so maybe the parents should drum home the actual beliefs and values of their faith!so that they are fully aware what the islam faith means this way they may not turn to making up their own meanings of following a wrong meaning!

I would turn my child in for their own good whatever they did.... terrorism, theft, drug dealing etc.... no I'm not Muslim.

Problem is that most parents (all cultures and religions) don't know what their 10 year olds are up to (see my post yesterday), so what hope do we have for parents to know what even older children are doing.

Nice in theory... Mr Government... but you are fecking dreaming.

As a responsible parent you would have to. If someone can talk your child into killing themselves & thousands of others, I don't think they would take any advice from their parents. They are brainwashed.

It wouldn't be an easy thing for any parent to do, but you have to think of others.

It might work, but whilst you are sorting yours out, there's another one prepared to do this around the corner.

It's an awful predicament, but it has to be done.

Since I don't know where you are and it hasn't been in the news I get it's pretty much a moot point.
