I think long ago, the pagan connections to many Christmas traditions were probabl more apparent than they are in our time. I would see little reason then for Evangelicals in our time to want to 'ban Christmas'. I have seen debate over whether or not we should be advocating the whole Santa Claus idea to young children though.... the idea of lying to kids can be a sticky subject for many.

its called stupidity. we all have freedom to our religion and beleifs. whatever it is time to be happy and to do some charity.
it may be for 2 reasons --
1. the day of Jesus' birth which was set up by Constantine.
2.most of us have forgotten the true spirit of Christmas. it is the time to give to poor and needy not just to our family and freinds. its time to give to those who really deserve -- the poor and needy.

No, they are not. I am an evangelical Christian in the UK, and I've never heard anything even mentioned regarding this.

Whether it's different in the States is another matter - Americans think they can do whatever they please, it seems.........

It is a pagan celebration of the sun god. I don't know why any christian would have part in it, seeing as it's never refered to in the bible.

I pray not because Christmas is a very important time for Christians. It reminds us that God send his only begotten son from Heaven to earth, to be born to complete his wonderful mission. He died for our sins.
