It's also called "internal alchemy". I'm not going to try to explain it. It's an experience. It's easier for kids to experience it, because there frontal lobe is less active than most adults.

I used to teach 4-5 year old kids. During nap time, I would play jazz ballads and mellow rock/pop songs for them. It was great to see a child gazing at the ceiling with a misty look. Of course, this can help a troubled child have a little peace.

If you would like copies of the music I used during the kids nap time, I would be happy to burn the cd collection for you. There's 41 one hour cds. You can have them all, orjust some. You just have to pay me for the blank cds and shipping. It would be my pleasure to help in this way. I'm sure this music will help the kids feel good on the inside.

Music can often be used as a tool to help calm the child. I know from experience with working with disabled adults. Music can also be used as a catylist to kickstart emotions that a child may be haveing problems expressing. It is often used for disciplinary reasons I do not agree with this practice.

Music and art can activate parts of the brain that normally are not used and with time can build up those parts. I don't know the disability, though, so I can't really say what benefit it would have. Maybe just bring enjoyment to their life?
