The only difference I notice is my anxiety calms down a bit. It doesn't make me sleepy, doesn't make me slur my speech or anything else. Just don't drink when you take it.

It is not a narcotic.
A 5mg dose will relax you if you are anxious, like a glass of wine. Different people will react differently. Taken at bedtime it can help you wipe out thoughts that are buzzing thru your head. However, a shorter-acting benzodiazepine would be more appropriate, as Valium will have a prolonged effect because it is broken down twice before excretion. Don't drive or use machinery.
Talk to your doctor about your particular problem. Other methods or medicines may be more appropriate.

medicines like valium 5 mg are given to produce sleep for sleepless people. It is quite safe if only 5mg is taken but what happens in reality is that people get acustomed to it and require larges does which leads to side effects like feeling drowsy in the morning. Do Yoga and read Bhagavad Gita for mind & body peace then you will not require valium at all.
