I am curious to see what translations others prefer and why. For my own self, I use the New International Version for my personal study and plan on using the New King James Version for my study next year. I also use the King James Version for scripture memorization through a discipleship program I am currently working through, and have used the New Revised Standard Version for a previous study. So which translation do you prefer to use in your study and why?

Hello!! :o) I prefer the original King James version. But probably, mostly because I'm familiar with it. It should be noted that in its day - the King James Version was like OUR 'New International Version' or our 'Good News' version. It WAS 'modern English' when it first came out. Craig!! :o)

The original King James version but in the last few years I have been using a Scofield study Bible. I really like it.

I grew up with the King James Version, and when it came time to buy a new Bible, getting older need a larger print, I decided to stick with the King James Version. I read it, and study it,pray with it. I just prefer the wording.

But, for my 12 yr old daughter, she just couldn't understand a word of it, so I got her one of the New International Versions. She reads it and understands it fine. (I can't, the wording's weird)

All of them, I have always kept the King James version but use all of them for study.

I believe that if you are saved you have the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Truth) and the Spirit will guide you to the truth in any version of the Bible within reason.

I also like the Bibles with multiple versions side by side so you can compare one to another.

I prefer the Revised Standard Version or the English Standard Version. They are a good balance of accuracy and readability.

I use the 1620 King James. Strong's Concordance translated every word into the original Hebrew and Greek. Studding is better when you can see the original meaning.

relies upon. for informal reading i like King James because it extremely is alluring to the ear. I now it extremely isn't any longer lots of a translation in terms of accuracy yet neither are a selection of of the others. Many are translated in this kind of style as to do the reading for you. it extremely is unacceptable. If i'm doing intense learn i take advantage of books with parallel translation and then analyze adjustments. no longer as sturdy as getting to understand the unique languages, yet i'm no longer prepared to evaluation the unique languages for a pastime once I nevertheless have some to evaluation for artwork.

I own many different translations, but I prefer the KJV, followed by the NKJV, and the NIV. I feel the KJV is the most accurate translation so my study Bible and concordance is KJV. Grace and Peace!

I use a variety of translations, as well. I love the accuracy of the NRSV for topical study, and the NIV for my devotionals.

I like the NLT, though, when I feel like God is far away. This isn't just a paraphrase...there is much accuracy, and I feel like God is talking directly to me when I read this translation.
