The western world is without a doubt guilty of whitewashing, not only nearly every significant or prominent figure in our society, but even the more trivial figures in our media as well.
The Last Samurai really ticked me off as well. But didn't infuriate me nearly as much as when I discovered the ex-Marine portrayed in the recent movie, World Trade Center, was in actuality African American. Still nothing causes me to become as irate as when I walk through Wal-Mart in December, looking for Christmas decorations but can't find a single image of my Savior. All I can find are greeting cards and nativity scenes featuring some child that looks like a baby Prince William. No one wants to admit that Christ in all probability bore a closer resemblance to Osama Bin Laden than most of the depictions we're presented with.
In addition to their striving to paint every positive figure or character as Caucasian, they also constantly portray the ethnic characters and figures with much less dignity. With, of course, the exceptions of those such as 50 Cent, Osama Bin Laden, Eddie Guererro, the Three Six Mafia, Lil' Kim. Mr. Miyagi, Cheech and Chong, the Sopranos, Missy Elliott and Stands With A Fist. (Dances With Wolves) Though several are beloved figures in our culture, none are necessarily the best ambassadors of the ethnic groups they represent.
We are not provided with an accurate portrayal of our racial differences, thus fueling stereotyping and prejudice.

Seriously though....what's up with SOME black people thinking that every white person owes them something? That black people are better than whites?
I try to avoid people with a "I'm better than you" attitude. I find that a majority of black people feel this way, especially the younger ones. The black youths go out of their way to be different. The pants down to the knees and crazy stuff with the hand signs.
There are white kids that do this stuff too. They are trying to act like black people. The loud rap music and the attitudes. I'll just chock this up as I'm an old (42) white guy and out of touch with the younger generation.
I am proud to be a white American and have no problem with black (or whatever race) being proud of their heritage. I would just like to know when I became the bad guy because I'm proud to be white.
If there was a United White People's College Fund, I'm a racist if I give to it. If there was a White Entertainment Television, I would be a raciest for watching it. Just by me stating the fact that I'm proud to be white in this comment, I'm a raciest.
Lies fabricated and perpetuated by "The Man" to keep the brown man down. Sounds like you are stuck in the 60's. This would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
Life is what you make out of it, no matter what color you are. I feel that the mionority's of ths Country have it pretty good. People (of all colors) need to stop the boo hoing, poor ol me attitude and grow up.
You wanted a perspective...Here you are.

Hello!! :o) It's important to remember that the movie business is just that - A BUSINESS. When you're trying to get people to invest MILLIONS of dollars in one of your films - you want to have a popular actor IN your film. Are there any brown-skinned people who could act as well as Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt?! You bet. In fact - many could do a better job. [And some have already proven that] It has nothing to do with racism. [As some have suggested] It has everything to do with MONEY.
As for Santa... well... HE [so the fantasy goes] lives in the North Pole. It would seem reasonable to assume - then - that he is probably VERY white skinned. But Santa can be any colour we want him to be. In many parts of the world - Santa IS dark skinned.
And really - the only person who can keep you 'down' - is YOU. Using 'whitie' as an excuse will only keep you were you are now. Move beyond that thinking - and work on becoming the best person you can become. Craig!! :o)

Um...
Michael Jackson was born black, He supposedly has a disease that makes him white. Others think he somehow bleached his skin. I'm white and catholic and I truly never thought Santa was white. My mom taught me he changed race . When he was at my house white, my friend that was puerto rican, he turn puerto rican, my other friend was korean, he was korean, Get the point. And you sure are calling the kettle black (figure of speech, not racial remark)!!!! Not just SOME white people think like that!!!
And HELLO what about the movie "WHITE GIRLS" ? Did you forget those 2 Wayne brothers played white girls and they are definitely "BLACK"!
So you see its not "the man" per say! And stop stressing over white people. Its people like you that cause ruckus. I love all people black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. I can't go on there are just too many races now a days everybody blends together.

What is your background if it is Brazillian and Puerto Rican....? if its Spanish and Portuguese than you are white.....if its African, Idigenous or otherwise......from another real brown person to you get a grip and get over it no one looks good with a chip on their shoulder. "The Mexican", well Brad Pitt didn't play a Mexican so i don't know what your trying to get at. The Last Samurai, Tom Cruise played a white guy who happened to be in Japan.....there a plenty of Samurai movies that are strictly Japanese.....what can no one star a movie that is set in a country that is not of their ethnic background. Does that mean that Salma Hayak should not be in any "American" movies because she is Mexican? that is my perspective.

For each and every thing it is familiar, there are exceptions to the guideline. hence the reason we've the be conscious "atypical" interior the English language. you would be an exception, yet I believe Obama that maximum (or familiar) whilte/Euro-American human beings are noted in a subculture that insists upon them noticing and making judgments approximately human beings based on the social shape it is race. it extremely isn't any longer purely authentic of old white human beings. My pupils this 12 months are products of those old white human beings, and this youthful technology has comparable attitudes and reactions.

This is silly. If you are "kept down" it is your own doing. Blaming someone else for your misfortunes is a sure way to stay down.
Success can be anyone's if you work hard and believe in yourself. You must, however, be willing to take the credit when you do well, and take the "blame" when you do not succeed. AND, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Everyone has their obstacles, overcoming them is what will make your success taste even sweeter.
Just ask Oprah, MLK, Victor Gonzalez the list goes on and on.

I would take a guess and say it maybe questions like this one.
If everyone of every race would just start asking , "How are you today ?" instead of what can I say to make them mad at me today?
99.9% of us are not movie stars, so ask them personally.
As far as Micheal Jackson goes, your guess is as good as mine.
God loves you and so do I.
