Cleaning. Or if i'm "zoning" while I drive and hit a bump, I have to go around the block 5 or 6 times to make sure there's not someone crawling up on the sidewalk 1/2 dead that I ran over. I also have one that if I turn around, I have to turn "back around" that many times to "unwind" myself. Thank god for medicine!

I have the same problem with doors I can not go to sleep or leave the house without making sure all I say again all the doors have been locked and are closed (except my childrens doors, they must remain open so I can hear them.) at least 3 times, before I go to bed then if I didn't I will lie there untill I get up and check them I am even starting on the windows. It drives me crazy that I do this and for some inexplicible reason I just cant stop my self. I know exactly what you are going through doing something similar myself. Sorry if I cant stop myself I have no idea of how to help you stop if you find out though let me know please.

Don't get me started!! I'm almost as bad with my alarm, I check it twice at night even though I re-set it in the morning when I wake up. I have to turn the volume off on the TV/stereo before I turn them off. I switch lights on and off. I have my tins in EXACT order in the kitchen. My bathroom cabinet is perfect, shampoo's facing the right way. My hangers in my wardrobe are the same colour for tops and a different colour for bottoms and the all face left. The remote controls have to be on the table in a line. My CD's, books, DVD's etc are ALL in alphabetical order or size order for books. My plugs for everything are all labelled so I can look at the socket and know which plug is for the TV and which is for the lamp. If I brush against a wall, I have to somehow brush against it with my other hand. I used to count the food on my plate, even grains of rice, and I couldn't leave one grain incase it got 'scared' (!). I'm forever tidying up at work, much to the annoyance of my not so enthusiastic colleagues. The list is endless! Oh, and I make lists too, all the time, even for my boyfriend.
I don't have medication for it because I try not to rely on them. I can usually work through my problems unless I find myself really going to the extreme. But the people around me know the signs of my behaviour before I do and they help me out. I think I've got to a stage where I have the majority of the power over myself but I do find that I get worse around exam time or when I'm stressed or nervous.
At the end of the day, there is no harm in what you are doing with the alarm. It's like going through the motions, it has to be done. Why don't you say to yourself to only check it 3 times instead of 5. See how that works. Then try just checking twice. Or get medication or some advice from your GP. Also, there are a lot of support groups around (if you feel you need to go), just try searching online for your nearest.
Try not to get worked up about your behaviour, it'll make you worse. Just take it nice and easy and try to have some understanding people around you. It takes time and some days will be worse and more controlling, but I think you will be able to have more power over your actions eventually. All the best!

I think you can do one of two things - throw it out of the window and trust your instincts to get you up in time or you could buy another three clocks, set them all for the right time, make sure they've all set properly.
One must be battery operated, one must be mains controlled and get a radio controlled clock. That's what I did when I found myself afraid to go to sleep in case I overslept. I had to get up at 4.30. After that, I was fine. Well, fine enough to get a good night's sleep, anyway.
And what'the worst thing that could happen if it doesn't go off - you'll be late! That's all!

I have many. Mainly though, I NEED to be very organised and tidy. I plan and arrange things in my mind constantly. I cant leave the house if I have something on my mind to do in the house. I obsess about it for so long that I never end up going out. I also check my alarm several times. Oh,,,there r too many to list here..

according to my husband and son its cleaning.....
but I own up its JUST cleaning the bathroom
(its cos a friends parents had the most disgusting bathroom and
I have never forgotton just how dirty AND smelly it was)
I clean it B4 i use AND after (I think that its just good manners
to leave it nice but the others in the house say its OCD!)
As for your alarm problem i am a little like that - used to feel a fool but when you awake early on a beautiful; Saturday or Sunday morning its just great because its so very quiet!
)(and your weekend seems longer because )

Me and my friend were just talking about this yesterday. She is the same exact way with her alarm clock.
My OCD is organizing. Everything has to be in an exact order or i freak out. All my cd's, dvds, books, etc.. are arranged in categories, then in alphabetical order. If one is out of place I have to remove them all from the shelf and reorganize all of them. Even if I try to tell myself not to, it will drive me insane until i do. I have others but that's the main one.

Stick a post-it note on the clock once set, then you only have to see that to know it's done. Once I kicked a plastic spoon all the way from Piccadilly Circus to Marble Arch cause I told myself If I did it all would be well, It took ages but as obsessive as I was I did it. I think I used to have lots as a child but as my life became more sorted they seemed less important and were forgotten about.

I seem to have an obsession about sex and all things sexual.
I find myself looking for things on line even though I am in a happy marriage and I know that work has a web marshall that pings up offensive sites.
