I think if you have Google Earth there is a search function that will give everything you need - turnings, junctions but it is a bit of a download and the above may be a better bet.

try using the AA or RAC route planners they will tell u how many miles via this way or that if u type in the route u want to use ... have posted the links for u ...

In the US, there are several web sites which will tell you exactly; my favorite is Mapquest.com. There are probably some in the UK also, but I don't know of any.
