Maybe it's therefore Protestant Mormons can have several wives?

He said in a letter to a nobleman to take another wife and he cited the example of the kings in the old testament who had hundreds of wives.

Philip of Hesse besieged Luther with requests to give his sanction to taking a second wife while his first was still alive. Luther's weakness brought the second great blot on his career. The document sanctioning the bigamy of the landgrave was signed by Martin Bucer, Luther and Melanchthon, and is a humiliating paper.

The Mormons are the only religious group in the US that ONCE allowed the practice of bigamy. They do not follow that practice anymore, although break-away sects might, like the bigamist who was caught by the FBI recently. He had 40 wives and was pretty stingy with the women in his sect (more like a cult) wanting all of them for himself.

Martin Luther was a monk of the Catholic Church and a firm believer in all that it stood for. Christianity has NEVER supported the idea of bigamy. Martin Luther became famous when he took issue with the church and tried to hold them to a higher standard.

You didn't mean to, but you insulted some protestants with our question. The only stupid question is the one that was never asked.

Did you know that the wisest man rendered by the Bible had 1000 wives and concubines combined? Did that make it ok? Nope...
He died a crazy man... So... Mormons may allow themselves to be polygamists, but that doesn't make it ok. All those deviant religions have something to do with excentric sexual gratifications... that tells you how deep their problems are. If MLK thinks something is ok, that still doesn't make it ok... it just makes him human and that we all are.we are not to follow in MLK's footsteps, but in Christ's... as far as Christians are concerned. Are you trying to free the Protestants of something? No, thanks, keep it.

Sure I did. Most of the characters in the bible had several wives. I wonder if they could have several husbands?

There is no evidence that Martin Luther ever wrote anything remotely like that.

Have you read any of his writings? If you have, you would know that this is unfounded and without merit.

He also said that the desire to be wise (learn) was unbecoming for a woman. I don't believe in any of that hogwash.
