Has anyone actually said to you, "My taxes pay your salary."
And what was your response?

Yep, I've heard that one a few times. Normally, I just ignore the stupid people, because I'm already arresting them or giving them a ticket.

A couple responses I have used though:
"Really? That's nice. My taxes pay my salary, too."
"Is that why my pay is so lousy?"
"Yes, and I really appreciate your support. Sign next to the X. You have 30 days to contact the court to arrange payment."

Yes they have. Often. I have heard several clever responses to this but my favorite is to simply hand them a penny or two and tell them that is all their taxes covers of your salary and that you are happy to write the ticket,arrest them, or whatever the case may be, for free.

i.e.=====
Motorist:
My tax dollars pay your salary, you should not do this to me!

Officer:
Here is the 2 cents of your taxes that go to my salary back because I will gladly write you this speeding ticket for free.

Yeah, and most of the time they're the ones that live in trailer parks or apartment buildings or scrotes that don't have a job - don't pay any property taxes.

Nine times out of ten...

Yes. My response is that I do not live tax free therefore I contribute equally to my own salary. If they care to have their nickel back, I'd be glad to give it to them.

yes they have , and i tell them that they are correct, but that as my employeer the should know and understand that even though they are taxpayers that that does not mean they can break societys laws, that their taxes paid their senotors and congressmen to write and make law, then if they continue or become vulgar or beligerant or physical i warn them about the nice silver bracelets that their tax dollars paid for and what will occur if i must take them out of their nice little case and place them on them !

That comment almost always gets the reply " Well, thank you, you are correct. I want to make sure you get your money's worth, so I am doing my job thoroughly. Please sign here, press hard, you are making 3 copies. This is not an admission of guilt...."
