why do the church (western) always keep rubbing your nose in it when they talk about sin and forgiveness... if I say ok I admit I sinned... and get the big fella upstairs to forgive me why do IALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP ADMITTING IT AND ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS? well, bible thumpers tell me? if I go out and steal a car and get caught I do my time and thats the end of it... I don't have to keep doing it do I? seems a bit unfair to me.. .but then...

It's a great business to be in,they make you feel damned, then tell you that they can save you. Then comes the bite:Would you like to donate to our Church & spread God's word?Praise the Lord & pass the contributions.

You only need to confess once for each sin. As per your example, if you steal a car (no matter if you get caught or not), it's a sin, so confess. The catch is that confession is based on REPENTance - meaning that you won't do it again. If you go out every Wednesday night and steal cars, then your weekly confessions won't mean much, since you're proving that you're not REALLY repentant for what you did! :)

Since when was life ever fair? I think when it comes to guilt, well don't do anything to others that you know is wrong but if you have and been punished by the system, well, forgive yourself and do not be too worried about what other people think of you and get on with a good and happy life. - Grudges cause most of the unhappiness in this world

Funny...if you steal & get caught & then do your time..you DO end up paying & paying & paying. People will always have a compulsion to not trust you! As for Christians wanting you to repent & repent & repent...hummm, I would have to say it is one of 2 circumstances: 1.) Your continuing to repeat the offense, in which case you don't really want forgivenss as there is no remorse for the sin in the first place, or 2.) You are going to the wrong church or churches. The only one that REALLY counts in regard to your repentance is God Alone! He is the One that sees the truth in your heart! He is the One that you need to "worry" about, in that He alone is the one that you will have to ultimately account to! To repent for your sins is to have remorse or regret for ever having commited them in the first place! ..Something you definitely don't want to continue, as to do so means that Christ's sacrifice really meant nothing to you.

Barry, that is a very good question. i think you have recieved a couple of good answers. here is the problem as i see it from a christians (my) point of view. i, too, am turned off by the so called "t v evangelists". personally i don't think most of them give a damn about a person's salvation. i also believe a few of them do (very few). but here's the thing. i believe they are driving more people away from God than they are winning for him. i believe, sadly, that their only motive is making money.
Let me suggest that God doesn't want your money. it is already his, and if he wants it he doesn't need a shyster preacher to get it for him. the bible says that the earth and everything in it belongs to God. i think this is what turns people against the christian religion, and though i have no right to judge, i believe that one day they will pay for it. just as you and i will if we refuse the FREE GIFT of salvation through Jesus.
may i ask that you attend a bible believing church close to you. please don't let the perverted words of certain so called "preachers" keep you from the fellowship that you can have with God and His people. Don't let them cause you to lose your soul forever. I fully understand your ill feelings toward christians, but once you understand the true christian faith. i believe you will change your feelings. My prayers are for you and i believe the God that i believe in will hear them and that you will see for yourself what our wonderful savior can do. I love you and care a lot for you.as a christian. if you have any questions that i may be able to answer for you, please contact me at marionheason@yahoo.com. May God bless you and yours.

It just means admitting your sins before God on an ongoing basis.

If you are saved, you repented. You continue to sin, so you repent these new sins. You don't have to keep going over and over sins you have already repented.

You don't do your time with God, though. Christ is the one who paid for you.

So why do you acknowledge your ongoing sins? To show your humility before God, and to ever remind yourself of why you needed saving--and to give you an occasion to have gratitude for God's mercy.

Once you ask for forgiveness you sin is cast in the sea of forget fullness and God remembers it no more...perhaps you have not forgiven yourself... or perhaps the devil keeps bringing it up ...He after is called the accuser of the brethren.
