If I really do like a girl and think she is long term potential, how long should I wait to sleep with her? I'm 27 y/o. I want her to know that I'm a nice guy, and I want to be respectful. But sometimes I feel like when you sleep with them, they'll like you even more? Is there a rule?

The relationship with a girl is much beyond sex. We, human beings are social animals and we badly need a fellow human being most of the time. Age doesnot matter here. Please differentiate between physical urge and true love.
Taking this decision depends on the way your culture and society allow you to do. Again since your fellow human being is involved here, you need to take her consent.
I am not sure whether you'd slept with a girl earlier. If so, then you know what it's like sleeping with a girl. You need to decide whether asking it may put off your lover.
Again it all depends on the understanding you've cultivated with her till now. Do you think that you've understood her better and what are her views on sleeping with a boy friend.
However my advise to you would be not to confuse with physical relationship and love.. If you feel happy to be with her, please go ahead and enjoy her companionship, it's a bonus both of you have physical relationship.
If she's happy with your companionship minus physical relationship, still you dont lose anything.

Why don't you express this to her?
Communication is KEY in a strong relationship.
Making love will be a wonderful thing if it is what you both are ready for. If you guys are already strong, this will bring you even closer.
If the two of you are not that verbally expressive yet in this department, then wait till the setting is right to approach her with the topic.
Maybe a romantic, quiet place will do. Set it up so that when the time comes, it will be so memorable, like a candlelit dinner and some wine with soft music playing. Tell her how she makes you feel. Speaking from your heart will show at this point and will lead to her heart. Then she might open up to you, too. Just show her a good time. If timing feels right, MAGIC will happen!!
If it doesn't happen, the next time you can add rose petals all over the bed and on the floor leading to a bubble bath. ;P

Well in every relationship there aint rules to follow .. its how you feel towards each other. Sleeping with the person you love doesnt guarantee a lasting relationship. Staying in love needs a lot of work for both parties. So I dont think sleeping with her would make the relationship stronger. IF you respect her much, then why not wait for the right time.

No rule. When the time is right, it's right. If it's not right and things go funny, she'll be running pretty far, pretty fast. When you stop thinking about the person like 'a girl you're dating' and more like a good friend with a first name and a personality, the sex will mean alot more.

You sleep with her when you are both good and ready. Both of you. Not just one of you. Just because someone have sex with you, they will love you more or less. Love is earned over time. Love is a deeper commitment with each other that goes beyone the bedroom. You have to be able to love her for who she is. Mind body and soul. You have to trust each other implicitly. Sex does not equal love. Now write this 5000 times.
The only rule I live by when it comes to sex is that I like to adhere to an 8 date rule before taking them to bed. That means 8 dates or 3 months before going there with someone. Get to know each other and be comfortable before sex.

No rule written in stone, kind of a case by case basis. Personal advice close the deal as soon as possible. Don't pressure her, but trust me playing the patience game never pays off.

Jumping in the sack with her right away may just chase her off, not to mention the loss of respect that she could have for you. You don't want to look like you're desperate. Take your time. She may respect you more by waiting.

oh yeah there are rules and boundries, i think you should wait for her until she`s ready, i feel like now she`s just taking things slow so don`t rush because u might loose her, ever heard of a saying patience is a virtue. don`t do what everybody is doing...... just be yourself and continue loving and respecting her. lol

Sleep with her whenever you feel sleepy; otherwise, just do it and strenghten your bond, if you think it will help!!! But remember, love is not dependent on screwing or sleeping with someone; there is much more to it. such things might just force someone into a situation; least strengthening the love.
