We need real excuses here, We lead the world in obesity, No other country can come close to the USA in obesity rates , Some 71% (really discusting). If you are going to answer this question with any of the typical fat person answers, go away your lying to yourself. Those answers would include anything that takes the blame off you personally. IE, Im bigged boned (old), I have a slow digestive system (stupid), The fast food industry (completely ignorant), I have diabetes (because your fat), Its in my genes (thats an uneducated one), I have a medical condition that prevents me from excersizeing (its called obesity)...The answers should (Now read carefully) relate to why you sit on your butt all day and snack, eat, pork out, on high calorie foods and dont excersize (Dont go there, If you ate right and excersized you would not be fat). What makes 71% of Amaricans do this. We are known as the nation of pigs, Pigs are gross!! We look gross, Are we under some kind of bio food attack?

My, My, you are just a bundle of joy aren't you?
Who made you God?
I wonder what other disgusting habits you have besides judging others and making stupid statements?
You are right that Americans have a higher rate of obesity, but some of your other facts are wrong! I would go into more detail, but you would just poo poo them all.
You should be careful. It has been my experience that people like you tend to end up being just what they criticize!

This is not a good way to get your point across. Maybe if you were more diplomatic, you might get some decent feedback.
Plus it is not 71% obesity, but overweight and obese. So some people could be a few pounds overweight and would be included in this category as well as people who are overweight due to muscle, such as athletes, body builders, etc.
However, some people do have disorders which means their metabolism is incredibly slow and find it much harder than you or I to lose weight, so please give them a break. I'd like to see you manage with an extremely underactive thyroid or similar disorder.
Also, there are other factors such as upbringing, if a person has had poor eating habits since a very early age, it's a pretty hard habit to break out of.
And finally, there is eating for comfort or emotional reasons. People use food as an outlet, much the same as other people use cigarettes, alchol and drugs. It can become an additction, the only difference is people need food to survive, so it's not as though they can just go cold turkey!
Take care : )

In 'WE', do you mean you included? If so, then you have the answer. If not, then you are VIOLATED!. j/k
There are many reasons, and if you think I'm going to sit here and make the excuse that my body has turned on me, my life has turned on me, and I find the computer addicting and pretty much non-personal in a way, you are .... RIGHT! I have never been lazy in my whole life. I felt guilty sleeping in even in high school. I was always out and about. But something happened in my life (personal), and I found comfort here with the few people I have made true friends with. Unfortunately, they are far far away. So this is where I go to talk to them. Sad, I know. But hey, you aksed.
But it really does sound like you just hate fat people, of which I am not one so I won't report you cuz I am not a lil crybaby snitch LOL. So get over it and let other people be who and what they are. Stay out of other peoples lives and quit being so judgemental. We will all stand before our Creator in the end and give an account of our lives. And you don't get to be Jesus on that day. THANK GOD!
HAHAHA You people who blame 'junk food' and McDonalds are just a bunch of whiners. Take responsibility for yoursleves for crying out loud. You sound like a bunch of whining liberal democrats always looking for someone else to blame, but not really discovering that YOU have a part in it all!
THE END!

I think that it goes hand in hand with a lack of true accountability on the part of the person and a lack of education. I remember once working in a low-literacy area where a meal was catered. We were served fried chicken and green beans drowned in butter. Many of the locals went on and on about what a "healthy" meal it was and that they never ate this healthy at home. I was mortified. They truly had no concept of what nutrition was. Many of them could not read well enough to inform themselves (we started health classes for them though!).
However, there are many educated people that are not responsible about their health or weight. I feel irresponsible when I even gain 15 pounds because I know just that amount can increase my risk of disease. Just like any other destructive behavior, I think obesity should be treated more seriously in every day life and less emphasis on "accepting that you are fat and beautiful". This can be deadly in the end. :(

There is a lot more variety of food available now. There is more fast food and convenience food. It's all pretty cheap. People have more free time and have less walking or other exercise required to get through the day. More people have cars or go by public transport. More women work and fewer cook from scratch.
I could go on and on. Things have changed in America. People have more time, money and food choices. It's also so wonderful to watch TV and eat or play video games and eat. Have you noticed how may people drive and eat? I think some people eat in their sleep!
There is also much higher consumption of sugary drinks. Instead of cane sugar everything is sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup.
My guesses in a nutshell on fatness. We all lack chromium in our diet. Convenience food used to be an apple or a graham cracker.

Sorry to tell you this but the answer has been known by the people in the food and health business for over twenty years. Guess what? They will not do anything about it lest of all talk about it.
Before I tell you the reason why so many people in America are fat - obesity is the euphemism the two groups above coined to cover their butts, let me ask you a question. Do you know any fat vegetarians? Find one and my theory is bunked.
Bovine Growth Hormones or BGH's are the biggest cause of obesity in America followed by similar hormones given to pigs, poultry and other animals farmed for their flesh.
The simple fact is that the hormones when eaten cause the human to develop the same ferocious appetite feed-lot cattle develop when injected with them. And with an appetite that never seems to get satisfied the eater begins to grow fatter and fatter... Think of it, bone thin drought stricken cattle in a feed lot for three months can be ready for slaughter as plump prime beef cattle after a couple of shots of growth hormones. And for you that like your beef extra rare the higher the effect of the hormone. Contact Texas Tech University and ask them about BGH - they invented them I believe and also ask about what they do to the human body.
Stop the hormone injections and watch America tone down.

Seriously, Americans have a better life or are richer than any other people in other parts of the world. I am a Filipino and I admit that our country is having financial difficulties that's why we are striving and working hard and studying hard all day. Also, it's because most delicious foods contain fat. Those are abundant in America. In the Philippines, we eat vegetables, fruits, chicken meat, fish in right amounts. We also like games such as basketball, volleyball, sipa, etc.

It's a combination of things such as more of us having jobs that require sitting at a keyboard all day, being bombarded continuously with food advertising, an imbalance in home/work life (Americans work more hours than the Japanese according to a study I read recently which surprised me). It's been my experience that in addition to the aforementioned, the more junk I eat, the more lethargic I feel. It's a self-repeating cycle.

Personally, my mom brought me up onhealthy foods (Even the icecream was bryers all natural!) And now, all that artificial junk grosses me out. Give me some wheat crackers, natural peanut butter, and banana sandwich over a salty, bland greasy bag of chips any day! (I love fruits too, veggies are ok, thats the only food I have to make sure I eat enough of)

Fast living. And comfort.
It's easier to sit on your fat ***, and order fast food, then getting up doing exercise and eating nice home cook salad & veggies.
And of cause maybe it's got something do, with the supper powers, you know super man does'nt get fat. And as long as the US believes they are the super unbeatable nation, they will live under this mis conseption "we are not fat".
The whole world is screaming at them, "you are fat", all we get back, " we are not fat, lets go to war"
