Humans are programmed to be polygamous. If you go back through history you will see a lot of evidence for this. The roman army was well known for its mass orgies. The Greeks saw no problem with sex. Even in the bible, men are allowed to have other women, so long as they take care of them like their wife, and the kids that they have with those women were allowed to inherit the mans wealth just like his other kids. That is why when males hit puberty, they mostly want to have sex with anything that walks that is a female ( that is if they are straight). There are very few species in the world that are monogamous, and I do mean very few. I hope this helps answer your question thoroughly.

Animal order, one male, many females. Even monkey's are like that. Humans, when they evolved from monkeys, i imagine had many girls. If i remember right, in the old world their was generally a 1:1 relationship, not because it was against the rules, but it was more a man had to look after his wife, and because so many were poor they could only afford to keep 1. Many of the richer people had more wives. Then came judaism with their adam and eve philosophey, which is also borrowed by christians and muslims, who enforced 1 wife. (i've got bugger all idea what asians did, but i know american indians it was common to have more than one wife, or in some cases more than one man!).
It is more of an enforced behaviour (through laws and social norms, due to western/middle eastern religion). They aren't programmed to be monogamous.

It's been proven that humans are not "programmed" for monogomy. In fact, both men and women will mate as many times as possible if left to their own devices. In fact, humans are the only known animals to mate for pleasure; out of the women's "season" as it were (it's theorized that it's a way for women who are pregnant to keep providing males around after the birth of the child).

no, learned or desired behavior sometimes, depends on the person. i prefer one person since its too easy in todays day and age to get diseases and such I would much rather stick with one person I can trust than a few I can't. Not everyone cheats but if someone cheats on you once they will do it again since the leopard will never change his spots. All our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope. All the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there's someone perfect, who might be searching for us.

Program? I dont think so since we are not robots. We are human beings capable of making decisions based on what we think is right. So I wouldnt say we are really programmed to be monogamous. Its a choice to make.. a tough one. Good luck!

No, God didn't make us this way. God provided Eve to Adam. Only one.
