Well, it was my girlfriends 24th birthday and we were all having a good time until she started opening up some presents. One of her friends bought her a pair of shorts. My girlfriend got kind of uncomfortable and looked at me with that "you won't mind if i wear these right?" kind of look. I just shook my head no as in she was not going to wear them. Later on, I brought the pair of shorts to her and told her that she really appreciated the gift, but that I didn't allow her to wear shorts because I think they are immodest and don't want other men staring at my girlfiend's legs. She got kind of upset and later called my girlfriend and told her to break up with me. Should I have just told my girlfriend to take the shorts back for store credit and avoided that conversation? I was just trying to be open and honest because I figured she would ask in the future why she never wore the shorts. Did I handle that right?

I am assuming you are young so I will refrain from insults but you should not try and control what your girlfriend wears. She can wear whatever she wants. If you don't like it, it's your problem, not hers. Grow up. You look at other girls, other guys will look at your girl. Deal with it. As long as she ends up with you at the end of the night what do you care? It's called maturity. You won't "allow" her?

Well, I don't think your girlfriend should need your approval on what to wear in the first place, because that's going a bit too controlling. Nevertheless, if she really accepts it, then the way that you did it was best as far as the situation goes. Returning a gift behind a person's back feels really dishonest =P

Is she your property?
Do you wear shorts?
Do other woman look at you in a immodest way? if they did would you wear a burka? it would be for decency!
My girfreind is very good looking but she is with me not with the eyes of another man.
Dont let fear run your life, if you are a good man you need not fear your girlfreind in shorts.

You were wrong for doing this...you are doubly wrong for even telling your girlfriend that she can't wear shorts. Trust me, with these kind of behaviors, this relationship can't last too long. She'll eventually leave you. Either change or get out.

With that attitude your going to end up single pretty quick.If she hasn't dumped you already,she will.Tell her your feelings,but what she chooses to receive as a gift or wear for clothing is none of your business.

This is between you and your girlfriend. there was no need to tell her friend. Your girl friend should have done whatever was best. It was wrong of you to tell her friend!
