Yes, a very common side effect. Sometimes these headaches can be dangerous for the woman who takes them, especially if she already has a history of getting migraines before the use of the pill.Migraines plus birth control pills sometime equal strokes and blood clots. Either way, this concern needs to be addressed by a doctor. He will be able to evaluate any unique risks for each individual patient. Keep in mind, the patch, ring, shot and IUD, all forms of birth control though different , can cause the same side effects as the pill.

Hormones can be very influential in migraines. Some people get migraines when they take birth control pills or other hormones; however, some people get migraines only during the days on which they *don't* take the hormones (the days during which you will probably have your menstrual period). If you get migraines only on these days, you might want to talk to your doctor about the type of pills that allow you to have only 4 menstrual periods/flows a year.

yes, anything that will make your hormones change can cause headaches or migraines. This is why women going through menopause often suffer from migraine headaches. Try herbal supplements, they may help. This site has good info on what can cause headaches and migraines

Yes. I got headaches and slight nausea when I took Ortho-Tricyclen. I think that applies to any birth control pill.
