A good burning software I recommend is Ashampoo Burning. It's 100% free and can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVekQ
If you want to create a DVD that works on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the files of the movie as is won't work (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly). Ashampoo is a good option for every "burning need". It's reliable and professional, It can be used both for CDs and DVDs and it's very easy to use.

If you are copying a DVD, depending on the speed of your burner, it can be 3 to 20 minutes.
If you are converting a DivX to DVD and then burning it, the whole process can take several hours, but it is still related to the performance of your PC.

It depend on DVD disk u are going to use , Generally the DVD burners has max speed (10x 16x 24x ) but the disk using has low speed ( 4x 8x 10x )
Finlay it is important that how much data u are going to burn less data less time more data more time
In general condition, it should not extend to 40 minutes

EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE...
--- Einstein
So it's actually relative. Depends on your computer's Speed also DVD Drive, Version of Burning software & compatibility of DVD etc..
But on an average If you want to write whole 4.7 GB It should take around 45 min.

Nearly 2 to 5 minutes if the burner is good and a faster one
If you can find good quality 8x media that is recognized at 8x by your
drive... burning at 8x will take about 8.5-9 minutes per disk. I
wouldn't recommend burning at 8x with 4x media however, if you want
the disks to last.

anyhwere between 15 minutes and an hour and a half the length of the movie isnt the only thing that counts u know, the movie's file type, ur dvd drive's speed, ur computer's speed, and a few other factors make a difference.

It will depend on the speed of your DVD writer and also on the speed of the DVD's you are using.
I have a 8 X DVD writer and use 8 X DVD's and it takes around 30-35 mins.
