He's a 14 week old Chihuahua. Currently, he's on Royal Canin Small Bites Junior *12 weeks to 12mths* and I mix that with some VIP Chicken Puppy Roll cut into small squares. I also add some Calcium supplement with Vitamin D to help with the absorption of calcium. However, he's constantly chewing at his feet...I think it could be to do with the kibble. What else would you recommend I feed him? ...I don't have the time to cook for him everynight. And I need something that is good for his health & preferably something that helps with oral hygiene.

Basically, what brand of dry food/kibble would you recommend & why?

His skin is fine. Not dry or flaky at all. He doesn't actually chew on his feet but rather on his lower legs, if that makes more sense. I don't mind expensive dry foods, I'm willing to pay for quality. I also live in Australia so am unable to get most UK/US brands.

your dog will love wellness puppy food. Trust me I've worked with animals for a long time on this one. Not only is it only all human grade ingredients, with no fillers, but its something that's way healthier for the dogs..............that they love. Surprisingly enough most name brand dog foods (cat too) that you can find in average grocery stores only meet minimum requrirments and arent that good for our pets in the first place. purina pedigree etc are all just low grade productc. You should really look into this if you love your pet. It cost a little more but its way healther for him and will add years to his life..............plus trust me she will love it. By simply feeding the dog healthy food you can often cure problems like bad breath, weight problems etc. you can get wellness from this website, http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/dogs/wel... pet co and certain grain stores.

A good quality meat based puppy food that is available in your area. Don't look at the brand but turn the bag over and look at the ingredient list. If it's something that you would eat, it's most likely good for your puppy.

Sounds like he has allergies, may be food related. I know quite a few dogs who are allergic to chicken and a few that are allergic to grains (my dog included). I would maybe try a good dog food that is good for dogs with allergies. Here in Canada and the U.S. we have Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance which makes 3 different flavours for allergy sufferers; a Duck and Potato, a Sweet Potato and Fish or a Venison and Rice formula. I would maybe look for something similar in Australia, maybe start out with just changing from a Chicken based diet to something other than beef (known to cause allergies in some dogs as well). Try that for a few weeks and see if that helps, if not maybe try cutting out grains as well. I have my dogs on a grain free dog food right now, but one of my little guys is still licking his paws and is always itchy and I think it may be the Chicken in his food(and I know he's allergic to beef) I'm thinking of switching him over to the Duck and Potato dog food from Natural Balance as soon as they get close to finishing up the bag they have now and see if that helps him. If not then the only other thing I could think of would be environmental allergies (pollens, molds, and stuff of that nature).

I have tried every othr dog food out there and Royal Canin has been the best. Both of my dogs look and feel great. Your dog may have allergies and that is why he is chewing his feet. When my dog started doing that my vet said it was either allergies or a parasite. It ended up being allergies. Actually both of my dogs have allergies and both chew their paws/legs. They just have different types of allergies. My Pit Bull is allergic to certain foods, grasses and soaps. My Lab has certain grass allergies.

Royal Canine is a fine food.. I feed Canidae..but there are several just as good...Innova, Wellness, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Wysong are all great.... I stick with Canidae because of the dental health..My oldsters never need their teeth cleaned, and they are sparkling white! My 10-1/2 year old still acts like a puppy, and is gorgeous....
It sounds like you are doing fine.. (my breed can't tolerate Science Diet, so I wouldn't recommend it..too many fillers)

You should check with your vet. Alot of dog foods have things in them that you wouldn't want to feed your dog. I found this out from my vet.

you can put him on pedigree lamb and rice it is easily digested and if he is prone to allergies this food is best. as for chewing on his feet check between his pads he might have something in them. food allergies generally consist of flaky skin on his back side or under belly . food allergies also cause ear infections which is the constant shaking of the head they also have chicken and rice if he prefers chicken.

honestly you need to remember... it's a DOG! they dont need you to cook for them. try a food that's made with lamb and rice those have always worked really well for me. that breed can tend to be chow hounds so watch his/her weight.
