Gonna handicap this one - the Coetzee that knocked out Dokes or the Holmes that lost to Spinks?

15 rounds - as that was the distance at the time.

I have to go with Holmes. He was much more skillful than Coetzee. Coetzee had a good right hand but little else. Holmes would have boxed him silly and probably stopped him late in the fight.

Holmes by brutal UD. It would probably have been a Holmes-Cobb kind of fight. When Coetzee fought Dokes, Dokes was didnt have stamina. Dokes was breathing heavily in the first half of the fight. He lost because he wasn't in shape, not because Coetzee was good. Holmes would have kept him at bay with his piston-like jab. If Coetzee were to land that big right hand and send Holmes to the canvas, we all have seen enough Holmes fights to know what would happen next. Holmes would get up and pound his brains in. Just watch the Shavers and Snipes fights for an example.

Holmes by decision. 15 rounds of the greatest jab in boxing opening cuts in Coetzee's face. Coetzee was too slow to beat Holmes.

Holmes by decision-too much quickness and jab for Coetzee to overcome.
