My daughter is 21 mos old. I didn't intent to potty train her yet, but lately she knows how to say she wants to pee. So, I just leave her diaper off. I just let her wear her underwear. she had accidents and she cried about it. now, she says she wants to pee, but she doesn't want to use potty, so I bring her to the toilet, (I’ve bought a kid's toilet seat, the one to be place on our toilet seat), I put her there, she still doesn't pee at all. I’ve tried everything, play, sing and even read for her. she just doesn't want to pee or poo. she keeps saying she wants to pee. She put on underwear, but still doesn't want to pee. I know she wants the diaper!. she's waiting for me to put her on diaper so that she can pee. I did that before, but now I tried not to give her. she didn't pass urine for 2 hours until she had accident. she doesn't want to have any accidents and use potty either. she just want the diapers. Does she really need to pee or she just playing?

Did she hold her urine for so long? Can she possibly do that?
what should I do? just leave the diaper on and wait till she’s ready as she’s too young? Will it be a bad habit and she won’t change?
Pls give me some advice. Pls don’t be mean. She is my 1st child. So I really need your advice. Thanks!

I would hold off a few more weeks. If she asks to wear her regular underwear just keep telling her that she has to pee in the toilet before she can wear them. Be consistant.

This is a very hard thing to master at this age. I would probably back off the undies for a while and allow her the opportunity to let her decide on her own when she wants to go. Also try taking one of her favorite dolls and see if you can get a free standing potty chair. Show her how her "baby" uses the potty. She may eventually get the idea that if her baby likes to use the potty, that it is not so bad after all.

I've worked at a preschool with 2 year olds. I've learned that some kids if they've seen other kids going potty, then they'll learn from that. She might not be ready, but have you tried buying a potty that you can sit on the floor. Maybe she just doesn't like using the big people potty.

So now that you've totally confused and tortured the poor child you're having a probelm? No wonder. Put the diaper back on her, she is not ready to be potty trained. YOU got over zealous and took away the diapers and put her in panties and now YOU are blaming HER for peeing in her pants, you're blaming the wrong person. Just because she knows she needs to pee doesn't mean she can control it. It also doesn't mean she is ready for regular undewear. It just means that she is aware of the sensation. So now that she's totally mixed up thanks to you, you're whining (makes me wonder who is the parent and who is the child). Put her back into diapers and wait until she is READY to sit on a regular toilet.

I guess you must be in the US, so that may be the age that childrfen get toilet trained there, but in the UK that is quite early. I don't think she is ready, she is just getting used to the sensation of wanting to wee and if she doesn't use the toilet/potty what is the point of putting her and yourself through so much stress. When she is ready, you should be able to train her in 2 weeks. Don't make her grow up too soon, it happens fast enough anyway!

try getting her a little potty chair where her feet can touch the floor. Maybe she doesnt like sitting up there with her feet dangling down.
My daugher used to sit on her potty chair with a whole bunch of books and sit there for hours but once you would put the seat part on the big toilet she would not go at all.
I dont know if its possible for her to be able to hold her pee that long and refuse to go.
Also, remember little kids repete things over and over and over and dont really mean it for sure.
Good luck!

A child is still a child. Let it be natural. Anyway she is still young. If you can potty train her, its the best. But if can't don't force her, if not you will frighten her. My girl will wear diapers at night until 4 years old. You just cannot force them. Just be patient and slowly train her.

I think that you're child still needs to use a diaper. It seems to me that she is too young anyway to potty train. 21 months old is still too young for a child to actually know when he/she wants/needs to go to the bathroom. Anyway, if you still have more questions, the best thing to do is to call a pediatrition's clinic and ask.

My daughter was potty trained at 15 months-be consistant and be firm-buy her pull-ups so she can pull them down herself on the potty. If she pees in them then put her in panties BUT use rubber panties on top in case she pees. She will not like being wet and this won't last long. Good luck!!

You have to train her otherwise you will have bigger embarrassment at a later date. it is getting late for toilet training. try giving some incentives like taking out after the Potti urinating etc
