see your GP for antinflamitories and warm soaks and massage try not doing anything that will cause a lot of finger and wrist movement or heavy lifting , long term the operation is probably the only alternative though.
be conscious that some antiinflamitories are dangerous for people with blood pressure issues.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a medical condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist causing symptoms like tingling, numbness, night time wakening, pain, coldness, and sometimes weakness in parts of the hand.
CTS is more common in women than it is in men, and has a peak incidence around age 50 (though it can occur at any age). The lifetime risk for CTS is around 10% of the adult population
There has been much discussion as to the most effective treatment for CTS. However, treatments can be generally divided into five basic categories apart from surgery:
Immobilizing braces
Physiotherapy
Localized steroid injectionsPrioritizing hand activities and ergonomics
Dietary changes and medication
Carpal tunnel release surgery
Anyone of the above treatements can be done depending upon various factors and the condition of the disease. Only your doctor can decide what treatment can be done. you can tell hem about your inability to proceed with surgery and he will tell youthe next suitable alternate. Please do not delay.
Best of Health.

this is the worst time for you hands and fingers, when you awake check the position of your hands.and you will understand why you have too much pain in the mornings.

accupuncture often works wonders on carpal tunnel syndrom. and an intense stretching program will aleviate a lot of the pain and reduce problem, i suggest high energy yoga. like ashtanga yoga. you need to stretch muscles you would not normally associate with your wrist pain.

the wrist braces helped me, but you will need to wear them for up to 8 weeks and no guarantees. the doctors say it helps a percentage of the population and I was one of the lucky ones. Worth a shot. Good Luck
