NO! You're born with a specific amount of hair folicles and you can't grow more hair than that. When hair grows out naturally the tip is thinner and tapered than the base. When you leave behind a blunt end that feels coarser because it not longer has the softer tapered end. If you wax you pull the hair from the folicle and therefore a new hair grows in with that tapered tip. Also, waxing for a while will cause the hairs coming back in to come in thinner and sometimes stop growing all together.

The reason it looks thicker is b/c you've cut the hair down to it's thickest point (the base). It's not actually thicker. Shaving also cuts the hair at a sharp angle. The hair seems finer when it's grown out b/c it's been worn down and made softer. Shaving doesn't make you more hairy, just more prickly. However, shaving CAN stimulate the skin and make hair grow faster, but it's not thicker or whatever.
Also, waxing and tweezing have the same effect. They both damage the dermal papilla (hair root), and, yes, it is possible to kill it. Good luck with that. :)

Shaving stimulates the hair folicle that lies beneath the skin, and from which new hair will grow. Over time, the repetative cutting of this folicle stimulates a little stonger, or darker hair to grow. Thus, it appears you are getting hairier, not really. As you get older, you don't keep getting more and more hairier as some guys will shave everyday. This is perfectly normal and you shouldn't be concered.

No, it doesn't. Your hair follicles do not expand, or multiply if you cut or even wax them.

The onyl reason they look thicker is that if you were shaving they grow back on a wierd angle, looking thicker, and by waxing, they only look thicker because you haven't seen them for 6 weeks.

So there!
