well im glad to hear that youve been helped in some way by medication though im really not a big supporter of taking medication for things like that, panic attacks arent easy to fix period, you have a real fear of being in cars and you have to face it, i wouldnt reccomend you adding more medication to what you already take, think about it this way, if your roof leaked everytime it rained would it make sence to just put a bucket under it or some plastic on the roof ? or would ot be better to actually FIX the roof, its alot more difficult to fix the roof but then if you do there will be no more leaks and it will be stronger.
my point is you need to face your fear and overcome it, it is not easy when youve been in a car accident to just "get over it" but if you put the effort in youll be a stronger person for it and youll find you can handle other things better as well, the old saying "what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger" is so true! you made it through that accident, let it make you stronger. you have to face that fear medication is just a patch and the fear will still be there it will just be dampened.
good luck , email me on here if you want some ideas on how to face fears, ive had to face a few in my life and i wouldnt mind helping.

my boyfriend was and still is on xanax
he takes it daily
I think he is addicted ( he says he's not BUT I KNOW HE IS!)
I don't blame him though he really needs it
He tried lexapro and it wasn't working for him
zoloft didn't work either
He gets panic attacks often,
in some situations he gets so anxious and even the xanax doesn't help
The doctor said it is just because he is building a tolerance for it
I suggest you do not start taking xanax
YOU will become dependant on it.
I just don't think it is worth it unless you REALLY need it

I am on lexapro and it didint help with my panic attacks either so they prescribed me xanax and it did help but you can only stay on it for a short period of time because it is addicting. Yes you can take both and when the doctor did take me off of xanax after two months, my panic attacks went away so good luck.I hope it works for you.

The 10mg of lexapro can be increased, or an anti-anxiety medication could be added. Xanax is a very addictive medication that should be used with caution. It is short-acting which causes people to be tempted to take more than prescribed. Other anti-anxiety medications include Ativan and Klonopin. Klonopin is the longer acting medication of the three, and therefore, has less chance of causing addiction. You should, of course, speak directly with your doctor about this.

I will tell you that I was put on xanex about 8 months ago for anxiety and to help with sleeping.... they are VERY addictive! I can't stop taking them now, my doctor is trying to get me off them. I would recommend finding something different to take.
