We puny mortals cannot comprehend God fully. With this statement, He was telling us who He is in a way we can almost comprehend.

When Moses asks God for his name, the Lord replies "I am who I am." God is not someone or something that can be named, described, designated or deliminted in the usual way, for God is not a being in or alongside the world. Instead, he is that strange and alluring power that stands behind all of created existence. He is Being Itself, that which can be neither grasped nor hidden from.

Well, in a subtle way God was saying, I am the Creator of everything in the Universe. People have many, many names for me, but I am still the one that created everything and everyone. I am so amazingly great and vast that it would boggle your mind, so just think of me as a friend.

It means that God is outside of time. He is the "I am", not the "I was" or the "I will be". God doesn't exist sequentially like we do (excepting Jesus who is fully God and fully Man... He does both) so He experiences everything in the same eternal instant.

"Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.""
John 8:58

He is what He is because nobody created Him and that He exists even before the world had begun. He is what He is because only He, Himself knows better of Himself and nobody else, no mortal being could ever explain who He really is.

I think it means that no one is going to change his. He is proud of his believes and his choices, and he will keep his faith no mater who criticizes or cuts him down for it.

What I get form that is that every one is different. Everyone has their own believes and makes their own decisions. We shouldn't criticize them, rather we should listen, and ponder what they have to say, if possible find a way to relate to it. But don't shoot someone down because the are who they are.

God told this to Moses and what God is telling Moses is that God is whatever Moses wants him to be. The Lord Almighty.

" I am that I am" its God proclaiming his divinity that He is, he was telling them who he was and is and always will be the great "I AM". "This is my name for ever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation." Ex.3:15 He is everything.
