Since you mentioned as "business friends we want to invite to our wedding" it is perfectly okay to get them the card in professional manner and avoid getting their home-addresses. The handing over of the cards may take place in any 'neutral place' like over tea or coffee or lunch/dinner suiting the most appropriate environment you can think or find of. For far away biz-friends, first the phone call and then send the card by reputable courier-service with a flower embedded on the envelope etc. Have a nice wedding!!

Telephone each of them and ask for a home address those you are unable to contact send to the business address like this

John Smith
c/o Acme Co.
555 5th St
Your Town, Your State 55555

Slip a note into any that you have to send to business addresses letting them know you tried to contact them to get a home address but were unable to prior to the deadline for sending invitations... They will understand as they are just as busy as you are...

For your boss or manager, you better give personal invitation card. But for your other colleage at office just give one invitation card that represent all the member of the office. If you only want to invite some of them, maybe send message by email or oral be better.

if they are Friends and not just business acquaintance then it is OK to send or hand out the invitations at the work place just let their employer know that you are doing it so they don't get in to any trouble at work

Yes - it suggests the relationship is business driven. You may call them at work and ask for their home address.

My vote is get their home addresses. If you want them at your wedding, then it is time to take your relationship to the next level anyway. It's your wedding...make it classy!

I would send them to the homes. That's what I plan on doing.

It's not rude at all. I got married 5 months ago and my husband wanted to invite some of his friends from work so he just gave them theie invitations face to face, and they really appreciated it.

It's really tacky that you can't even take the time to find out their address.
