delete cookies and defrag but I'm still running out of space. I'm sure there must be a bunch of pictures and videos and copies of things that I don't need stored away but I don't know how to find them or to tell what they are when I do find them. Any advice?

In your Start Menu, go to Run and execute this command: %temp%

This will invoke your temporary files folder. Delete everything that can be deleted in it.

Uninstall softwares that you don't really need.

Simplify your Windows XP by removing components that you don't really need (i.e. MSN).

Usually large files like game, movies and mp3's store a lot of disk space. I suggest sacrificing some games and others that is not frequently used to be deleted so you can free up space..

If you're just a bit computer savvy, download the free program jdiskreport. It will show where the space is being used up on your drive and will help you quickly narrow down to the photos/songs/whatevers that are really sucking up the space

Lots of good answers above. Also, you could add another disc -- they're getting to be very inexpensive nowadays. You can get space for a buck a gigabyte or less.

1. do you include the old files when you run the disk clean up
2.You need to show the hidden folders so you can locate some program that you removed them before but they left some files but be a ware that you can delete some files at your OS make sure that you don't delete that files.

your memory? that is not affected by music files of any amount. what you mean (probably) is hard disk space. buy another hd (seagate is the best imo) or uninstall programs: start>control panel>add or remove programs.
