It's a perversion that is safely hiding behind the first amendment.

It's obviously non-essential. Many people refuse to watch it.
Is it a perversion? That depends on it's context. The naked body is not perverted. Sexual intercourse is not perverted. However, just like anything else, the human body can be used and abused for pleasure, and watching sexual activity purely for addictive entertainment is a harmful thing. Any kind of addictive action, no matter how innocuous, traps our minds and chains our spirits; by allowing ourselves to be addicted to something we give up a little bit of our rational spirit and we replace it with a beast that cannot be reasoned with, only fed more and more pleasure until it cannot be satisfied any longer. That leads to even more perverted and dangerous things.

To answer your question one has first to decide when love and affection becomes pornography, at what point in the process does it change from accepted to unaccepted.
While you are deciding, bear in mind that the whole process is to create sensation and some people are easily aroused while others require a longer period and a more violent period.
Since there is a spread of definition, the logical conclusion seems to be that it's nothing more than a matter of opinion
