you could cut more calories but i dont recommend it, most likely you are just on a plateau, sucks and it could last for up to another month. but the thing to remember is that you just have to keep going, eventually the plateau will end and that last 10 will come off. awesome work, keep going!!!!

You are most likely on a plateau. It seems as if those last few pounds will never go, but they eventually will.

Try measuring yourself today (waist, hips, thighs, etc.) then again a week from today. You will likely find you have lost inches even if you are the same weight. You are building muscle using the elliptical machine, and muscle weighs more than fat.

Definitely do not reduce your calories, or your body will go into starvation mode and hang on to any fat it can. Your health will suffer if you eat any less than you are eating now. The usual daily intake for losing weight is 1200 calories. Your muscles and organs need the nourishment.
Do the measuring tape method, and you will be able to see the results there instead of driving yourself crazy with that evil scale.

How did you manage to work up the willpower to do the exercising?
Wish I could!.......Good luck, Gently

Don't get overly concerned about your weight. Think more about being healthy and looking good.

At this point with that low of caloric intake your body is probably using muscle for energy. That is not good. If you can see a line down the center of your abs and a little definition on top you are probably at about 11-16% body fat. That is considered very healthy. If you can see the full six pack, you are anywhere from 3-10% body fat which can be dangerous and you don't need to lose any more weight.

I would change up you aerobic exercises some. Run, cycle, swim, throw your body a curve and it will burn more calories.

Eat three cups of fat free low cal yogurt a day (make sure it has live cultures in it) and fresh pineapples. This helps you break down your food.

Eat 400 more calories in lean meat a day. The change up in aerobics and additional strength training will take care of these calories. Don't worry about them.

Do 20 min of weight training three times a week. This will build lean muscle which will in turn burn fat. Remember that looking good is more important and healthier than weight. If you lose weight doing this that's ok. If you gain weight but burn more fat and get more defined, even better.

I lost 40 lbs in two months and have kept it off for two more months doing this. I also took my body fat % from 30% to 14%

you are ruining your metabolism by doing such a low calorie diet. Here is whats happening.

Your body has gone into starvation mode and it is eating your muscle for food and storing fat. The body naturally does this that's why anorexic people often have a little pooch(belly) and really skinny arms.

If you want to fix this first figure out what your true maintenance level calorie intake is. Use the formula below for women:

= 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years)

After you get that number multiply it by 1.55 because you are moderately active (workout 3-5 times a week) and you have your maintenance calorie intake number. This is the number of calories you should eat to maintain a current weight.

Now you want to loose weight so you will go 20% under that maintenance level.

Here is the main part - split those calories up into 5 meals per day and make sure each one of those meals has all of the following: protein, complex cards and good fats.

If you follow that you will loose that last bit.

If you want more info about this type of eating and fat loss check out my sig.

PS. when you see how much you should be eating it will surprise you, but dont let that fool you into thinking this is wrong.

I had a personal trainer last year. I lost 5 pounds in 4 weeks just by changing my diet. He said that 70% of losing weight is in a healthy diet and 30% is in exercise. I had to cut out three things from my diet: milk products (cheese, maynoise, milk shakes, etc.) red meat and alcohol. My breakfast consisted of eating fruit (banana or apple) or a couple eggs w/wheat toast and a cup of tea. Lunch was a turkey/chicken sandwich. Dinner was either chicken or fish (preferably broiled over fried). Drinking water during each meal was tough, but highly recommended over soda or other high calorie sport drinks. He recommended eating nuts or pretzels when I had the an urge to snack, instead of cookies or potato chips. I also limited my intake of deserts such as cakes, pies and candy bars. It is a tough change, but it feels great to see the number on the scale lower each time I stepped on the scale. Good luck !!!

Your body has grown accustomed to only burning 1000 calories a day because you are only eaitng 1000 per day. This is a human survival instinct.
Keep going, it's going to take a while but a slow weight reduction is more permanant then a fast one.
Try reducing your calories further for a short time and excerize more. The weight could als obe water weight.
And also try reducing your salt intake.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. You do realize that you ate half as many calories as a typical dietor for a long time. Don't try to loose anymore weight is that last ten pounds is muscle and not fat.
