If one is working out two body parts a day & has a week long routine without any rest. Other than the whey protein,one is consuming 2 pills of multivitamin

Here is a good rule of thumb to go by when your trying to build some good lean muscle. First you should eat 10% over your recommended calorie intake (if your trying to gain muscle) and 20% under if your trying to get shredded (burning fat).

Of all of your daily calorie intake you should have about the following ratio:
20% fats (healthy fats)
40% proteins (animal proteins are much better than whey)
40% Carbs (good complex carbs--potatoes, brown rice, wheat bread and wheat pasta)

That ratio will get you the best lean muscle possible. The carbs are necessary because they help transport the proteins to the muscles. And yes the healthy fats do make a difference.

I wouldn't go overly nuts on the whey protein. It does have a bit of cholesterol in it, which isn't good... Generally, I'd limit your intake to no more than 2 servings a day (you can go three if you want). If you are big guy (i.e. 220+ pounds), you can definitely do 3 - 4 times a day.

Try to get your protein from food sources though and save the whey protein for times when regular food isn't available. Regular food / protein offers other nutrients including creatine and other essential amino acids.

Also you may want to consider taking one day off a week to allow total recovery. Your body grows during rest, not at the gym.
