Have your doctor write a letter stating the necessity to have him there and for how long. Ensure he includes the medical reasons for it like the fact you will not be ambulatory for a few days. Once you have the letter, contact you husband and get a copy to him so include with his leave request.

the doctor, when contacted by the Red Cross, will make a recommendation one way or the other. HOWEVER, the CO is under no obligation to follow that recommendation.
If the ship is in an area where getting him off of it will be difficult or impossible, they may not allow him to come home. If he serves a vital function, he may not be allowed to come home.
In other words, you cannot count on it happening. I'd make some other plans just in case.. hire a co worker's teenager to walk the dog for you. Ask the rear Det or Ombudsman for assistance( is he a rider, or ship's crew?) That's what they are there for. contact fellow spouses from your husband's workcenter.

This is pretty much how it will work:
Your DR has to get a hold of the Local Red Cross.
The RC will contact your DH's RD Unit Commander.
He/She will then contact your DH's Commander where he is.
That person will contact your DH's 'supervisor'.
That person will then contact your DH.
Your DH will be advised as to your condition. BUT if this is not an emergency situation ( Life threatening) then don't count on him being able to return. Also, if your DH is an essential Member of the Unit, then that is against him as well.
I personally doubt that he will be able to return. The Unit is suppose to have an FRG that is to assist in things like this when the Military Member is gone. Notice I said 'supposed to' have someone in place. I would get one of your family members at the ready in case he can't be allowed to return. Another option is this....wait to have the surgery until your DH is due home on R&R or return after the Mission...

If you tell theRed Cross you won't be able to walk the dog or will have to take a taxi to & from the hospital, they will not give any consideration to it. You must have a very good reason for needing him home and those are definitely not good reasons.

Work thru the Red Cross. Red Cross requests get automatic approval. That goes back to WWII and the regs have never changed, typical of the military...

Your husbands unit has a rear detachment command. Contact them. If you can't find them or don't get your questions answered contact the American Red Cross and see what they can do for you.

That totally depends if you doctor send a red cross message if they do they have to let him go.
If the command is nice enough and you don`t get a red cross message mebay they let him take leave.
Talk to your docor and see if he will put out a red cross message.

I believe that would depend on your husbands Commander.
Have your husband put in for family medical leave and hope it happens..... Good Luck with your Surgery.

I don't really know but common sense says don't count on it. I think you have to raise a fuss or get the news media's attention or do something equally outrageous....Good Luck!

Probably not. Unless there is complications. But, that procedure is pretty minor.
