We get so many hang up calls! And every now and then just plain weird ones. Tonight's happened while I was at school. My hubby got on the phone and the person asked if it was him, by name. He said yes and then asked who he was speaking with and she said her name, like we knew her, and then hung up.

I wish I could say that's the weirdest call we got, but it's not.

So why wouldn't people want to talk to us when they call? Why bother calling?

if you knew who they were, you'd hang-up first.

I have a phone for my use. I did not install it so others could call me. That's why I have caller ID and voice mail. I'll check my calls once a day - or every other day. If they won't leave a message, it couldn't have been very important. If they don't leave a number, they must think I'm psychic. Sure, I have the caller ID and *69 usually works to tell me what the number was that last called my line if the caller didn't leave a message.

I have gone from an endlessly ringing phone to a phone that rarely rings. If you are consistent, people will stop calling, solicitors will stop calling and then you can enjoy your phone at your convenience.

If I don't recognize the voice, I make sure they identify themselves first. Solicitors often work from a call list that they purchased. When someone asks for me by name, I establish who THEY are before we go any further. Caller id is not 100% but it helps screen calls.

I would consider Caller ID. That way you can decide before answering if it is someone you know and someone you want to talk with. Plain and simple, it becomes your choice!

They are rude. Sorry you have to deal with that. Get a private number, or a number that only accepts phone calls from certain pre-determined numbers.

Get caller ID, and block them in the future.

Sounds like someone is messing with you.

These are crank calls. I hate it when a relative calls and pretend they don't know who I am. I also pretend I don't know who they are!!!!!!! ha ha ha. If they don't call my name , I don't call theirs.
