Eating meat is only cannibalism if you're a cow.

Cows are yummy. So are pigs. And chickens.

As a matter of fact, I was gonna go get me a burger for dinner, but now that you told us that you consider eating meat to be unethical, I'm gonna go get a bacon cheeseburger and a side of chicken strips. Now three animals are gonna die so I can have a tasty snack, instead of just one. Hail Maddox.

We are built to have a certain amount of meat for nutrition. We are part of the predator\prey cycle, although now with feedlots and commercial farming it has depersonalized the killing. I certainly eat meat, although the animals should be treated as humanely as possible in the raising and killing. I don't know about knowledge of death but animals do experience fear in situations they aren't used to and in some cases what they are exposed to prior to slaughtering must be very fearful.

i'm a vegetarian, and so despite if some human beings do no longer believe me, i believe it extremely is unethical. the fee of a definite meal with fowl as against being killed, he reward to us is smaller than the punishment of the lack of ability of existence to the fowl. Plus, some chickens in no way see image voltaic simply by fact they are caged up in a depressing, dingy barn without area to go for his or her entire existence. i think of it extremely is unethical to kill others. Animals can sense discomfort and animals do sense emotion, so i discover eating meat to be unethical.

if you read Genesis 1:29 in the Bible it talks about how God gave us animals to eat. I do not eat meat becuase i don't like it, however animals do feel fear and pain, you can tell when an animal is hurt by the sounds it makes or the way it acts.

I think as a society we are thrice removed from the days when we had to kill food to eat it.
My grandmother thought nothing of wringing a chicken's neck and plucking the feathers to make our dinner.
All through time up until about 100 years ago, it was a fact of life -- today people who get served food and never see the butchering process somehow have to get upset at the animals feelings.
I am amazed at this. Animal rights? Give me a break -- they are food.

I have no problem eating meat. My primary concern is the wellness of myself, then my family, then my community, then my nation, then my species. My loyalties end with humanity and extend to no other living being. Any non-human is fair game for human exploitation, including potentially sentient creatures like monkeys and dolphins, so long as it's efficient to use such animals. So, as long as eating animals has no bad effects on humans, I have no problem eating them. Their pain or suffering also don't matter, so long as they're killed in the most efficient manner while preserving taste.

While my conception of animals as tools may make me seem callous, I care deeply about my fellow human beings. I would never murder someone without a very good reason, nor would I willingly partake of cannibalism except in extreme circumstances.

I understand what you mean... I am a meat eater and often feel guilty for it. I have cut down though, but it takes more discipline and time.
Animals CAN understand pain and death, as I have been around them long enough to observe. But humans have been abusing them for as long as we exist together, to the extent wrong things are taken for granted as right. What can you and I do?
