It doesn't always have to be the dude and girls can make the first move. Unfortunately, in our society, women get a lot of mixed messages about how to act and who to be in the dating world. It seems like there is always some sort of criticism of women. Either they're too desperate or they're too shy or whatever. Some wait for the man to make the first move because they don't want to come off as "desperate" or "slutty." Some do make the first move. Others still don't make moves because they're just "not that into him." If you're asking why girls don't make the first move with you. . . I have no idea.

Look, as tough as it is for both guys and girls to even admit to their feelings, it seems that the girl would often times be in a more vulnerable position and that the guy has the upperhand. Girls are more sensitive, more emotional in these types of situations and we don't like to contemplate rejection. Neither do guys of course, but girls seem to take it harder. This is why girls often ask - why can't guys make the first move? There are of course outgoing, extreme extrovert girls who always make the first move; there are also girls who struggle to pluck up the courage to make the first move but eventually do; then there are those extremely introverted girls who under no circumstances would go up to a guy whose feelings towards them are entirely unknown. This type thinks it too forward of them to make their feelings known to a guy. So, to answer your question, I say think about this last type of girl who is simply too shy to tell you - can't you give her a break and ask her?

Some do make the first move but it's uncommon. Look at the animal kingdom for your answer. almost all mammals have sexually agressive males that compete for females who then choose from the winner or from whomever build the best nest or whatever. It's biology and it's normal. You're a human so you can overide the instinct but most women have the easy part so why change it?
One more thing. most females DO make the first move by signaling to you that it's ok for you to make the "first" move. If you see that signal you won;t get rejected much, unless you're a dork.

All girls don't sit by and let the man take the lead. When you start generalizing, don't also insult my intelligence.
In all of my relationships, I have mad the move. It doesn't have to be all on the guy...but if you like someone, don't be shy about asking. If you like a girl, but don't want to say anything...then that's your choice. Don't blast her because she doesn't read your mind and ask you first. Maybe you are not putting off the signals to her to let her know. Maybe she doesn't like you.
Dude, don't put down a whole gender because you are waiting for someone else to make the first move.

I think it should be both ways. Girl should make a first move it shows the guy that she is caring and it doesnt always have to be him. I have no problem making the 1st move I feel its should be 50/50 a lot has been put on guys and now a days I feel it should be both time for us woman to step up.

Honestly, girls CAN make the first move. Both guys and girls are equally scared to make the first move, but society has always taught us that the guy should be macho, and the girl should just "wait".
But things are changing, and even though I don't think chivalry is dead, it is down to it's last days. More and more girls are going for it nowadays, the way it should be.

Girls CAN make the first move. Some will. Most won't or don't. I don't know why. It's the 21st century and it's been okay for the girls to make the first move for a long time now.

Guys are just known for making the first move alot of females think if they make the first move the guy is going to think less of her but its not that way at all you guy like it when the girl makes the first move

Wow! I always thought girls could make the first move. They are often far smoother and intelligent about it. If I'm wrong here, let me now and I'll have to inform my first move wife our 37 year marriage is over.

Hey!! Its' not true!! I like making the first moves!! But maybe most of the girls prefer being chased.
