just wean gradually, start cutting the daily dose to a point that you go every other day. This process may be unpleasent but can be done. Simultaneously if you were getting xanax for anxiety or insomnia, be prepared for symptoms to get worse, good luck , stay in touch with a doctor

You could also discuss with your doctor a switch to Ativan, which has a longer half life than Xanax, thus can be easier to ween off of than Xanax. They gave my mom Klonopin to come off of Xanax, which is the KING of benzos, in terms of half life.

The only real way to ween off of any med./drug is to take 1/2 the mg. that you are taking now for aweek then take 1/2 of that for a week and so on, until you are at the smallest mgs. that there is then quit taking it!...

Your doctor will help you slowly wean off this drug - even if you get them "somewhere else" or you can admit yourself to a hospital for "detox". Xanax is a drug that can be very dangerous to detox alone. You can be very physically ill with nausea and vomiting, cold sweats, elevated temperature, inability to sleep, agitation, hallucinations inability to eat and seizures.
Don't try this alone...get a doctor to help you.
(The med that is less addictive and used is Klonopin)

Yes, I cured myself of depression with an awesome new all natural mineral supplement, and others have done the same for a variety of mental ailments. The supplements are inexpensive, easy to take and have no negative side effects.

email me for more info, I'd really like to help!

If you're taking it for kicks, just stop it, period.
If a dr. prescribed it for you for a medical reason, don't stop the prescribed dose until you check with his/her office.
