3 = $$ = 2+1 = 3

260 = $*****$** = 256 + 0+0+0+0+0+4+0+0 = 260

if 2 = 10
and 6 = 110
and 0 = 0

Then your number is 10 110 0

Don't you recognise this as being BINARY ????
Some funny guy decided to change the 0 for * and 1 for $.
So, 260d (decimal) = 100000100b (binary) = O404 (octal) = Ox104 (hexadecimal)...
