beat it with a mixer until it's kind of fluffy with a smooth consistancy :) Maybe 3 minutes or so...

Use room temperature shortening. If you forget and it is cold, cut the shortening into small pieces. Beat with an electric mixer until very smooth. If the amount of shortening makes it difficult to beat and the recipe calls for sugar or eggs, those ingredients can be added to make it easier. It can be done by hand, but it will take much longer.

Whip it till it's very light and fluffy; many times the recipe will say to cream it with sugar, which means just add the sugar gradually while you're whipping the shortening.

Yes the first two pretty well explained it!! If you don't have an electric beater that's fine too. Just beat it by hand with a spoon or use hand mixer!
