The Koran works really well if you crumple it up and use it to start a fire on the hearth.

There is no stoning punishment for adultery in Quran. Sura Noor (Chapter 24) which was one of the last Sura's revealed has prescribed only 100 flogs for adulterer and adulterous.
"The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. " Quran 24: 2.
Some commentators say it is only for unmarried people but if you read verses below you can see the case of husband accusing wife of adultery. And it is mentioned that wife can avoid the punishment if she take an oath 4 times that her husband is lying
"But it would avert the punishment from the wife, if she bears witness four times (with an oath) By Allah, that (her husband) is telling a lie; " Quran 24: 8.
Quran uses the word "the punishment", which means the punishment which is already mentioned, that is flogging mentioned in verse 24: 2. It would be unreasonable to think Quran is referring to a punishment that is not mentioned.
Also, Quran requires that at least 4 witness of adultery for the punishment of flogging. If there is 4 witness, it means they were committing adultery almost publicly. Adultery if it is spread in society, will surely break families and social structure of society. This is the reason Quran prescribes harsh punishment as flogging for it.

Muslims try to follow the laws as were established by Allah and implemented by His last Prophet Muhammad PBUH. These laws were made for all mankind and for eternity. Stoning is suggested only in certain conditions after a careful evaluation. Similar crimes in the civilised worl probably get the electrical chair or the gas chamber. Besides quite often the verses from the Quran are quoted incompletely, try to find the verses, read them and read the explanation and context. Feel free to email me with anymore questions

Well all three scriptures (Bible, Torah, Quran) talk about stoning punishment, if you think that really works. For example in our country that is "USA" if we stone people for raping, instead of putting them in jail and feeding them do you think the Rape cases will go down or up. It will go down and thats the reason stoning is allowed in Islam. Do you care of humane punishment to a rapist or care for justice to a rape victim I am 100% sure you will go with stoning to be fare to the rape victim. I hope I answered you question.
FYI: The Holy Quran is not man made, thats the reason it cannot be changed not matter how much man change by calling himself modern but he body and thinking is still the same.

Actually, we would not have as much violence in this country if some of the punishments weren't put off for years and then lightened up to where they were practically non existent. For instance that change in the law that says if you didn't MEAN to kill someone that you killed, although you took a hatchet to them as you were robbing them, you would get a lighter sentence. So in a way serious immediate punishment for some things is a good thing. If people knew they were going to be taken outside and shot immediately for a serious crime we wouldn't have so many of them.

go take it from your Old Testament before you criticize other people's holy books!!!
read your bible and erase what you dont like. plus what's your business in the Quran?? are you Muslim? no so be quite and clean your own neighborhood first.
3 out of 52 Muslim nation practice sharia law fully. so i think it's a broad statement you are making there. go tell the Iranian government and not generalize Muslims. in most muslim countries the punishment for adultery is jail time. as for murder death penalty or life sentence. stealing is also punished by jail time.
by the way, if you study the Law of sharia you'll see how fair it is, it's Almost IMPOSSIBLE for the stoning for adultery punishment to happen why? because if a married man and a married woman commit adultery in order to be punished by stoning there has to be four adult witnesses, what's the chances of four adult men to find two people sleeping together? very slight chance so usually it's really hard to prove such a crime. as for un married people they are to be whipped like 80 times but also there has to be the 4 adult witnesses of the crime.
if it's a rape crime, the rape victim doesnt get punished and neither does she MARRY the rapist like in the bible. the Rapist is to be punished harshly. and the woman in Islam has a lot more rights if you take the time and understand those rights, you'll see the how Islam brought Justice to women and gave them a lot more rigts than in christianity and judaism, but you people are not interested in knowing the truth. it really saddens me.

well i was expecting that they should be hanged directly..islam is a bit lenient ..if u say its harsh.why are u saying that..if yes u must be an adulterer seeking less punishment if u wanted 2 be in islam..consider USA where more than 3000 rape cases are registered today ..if we applied such a law over there..no person wud rape someone rather there will be brotherhood among them and peace will prevail in the society
peace

law from God and man made law
i prefer law from god.. it not a punishment but prevention. the punishment made in front public.. so, if you see someone has been stone by crowd because of adulatory.. so, what happen if you get caught because of adulatory. what will happen to you. so, people will think twice to do crime.

maybe instead of throwing stones, they could all just hiss really nastily. It would definitely lower the self esteem a notch or two.
