I suppose it's because they aren't asking questions with your sensibilities in mind, and would never have guessed at how easy it is to confound you.

We're not talking about absolutes here. People don't have to fork over thousands for an EOS-1, or settle for an Etch A Sketch. What folks want to know is what is high quality RELATIVE to others WITHIN a given price range. Sorta like what everyone else answered.

Not really, there are plenty of products that are highly priced but not great quality and other products are very reasonable priced despite being good quality.

Many people look at the price and assume something more expensive is going to be better quality. In reality, its best to fully research and find a relatively cheap, quality product.

With the advance of technology, it is becoming easier and easier to get high quality for less money. In particular, cheap, very high quality digital SLR have become available this year. Some companies (Canon) have been much more successful at this than others.

Well, things are getting less expensive (cheap) and are breaking down less often (quality). So I guess unlike say 5 to 7 years back, you can get "quality" at a "cheap" price!
