While retiling my bath wall, I realized there is an area about 2'x2' that is rotten behind my siding and I can see a gap in one of the siding pieces at the bottom (about 2 feet long). Any alternative way to fix this problem without taking off the siding and putting in a new backing board in the area? I recently replaced the siding and now I know why that piece wasn't flush as I couldn't see the missing area. It is on the second level of the house and not an easy area to reach on the outside. Thanx

is it lap siding or 4x8 sheets? The sheet fix is easier. For the lap siding, It used to be nailed to the studs in some older homes, with no backer board, so if it is stable, you only need to insulate from the elements, leave it be! Why did it rot? that is your real concern. Make sure it is not still getting wet back there or you will eventually have a real problem. spray water on the siding to see if it gets inside. you could water proof the inside from where you can get to it. it doesn't have to be neat. just pour it down the inside of the siding until you are satisfied it is covered.

No, rot is very excluded from all policies. you will desire to determine interior the fee to repair, with the acquisition fee of the domicile. components vendors coverage is for surprising, unintentional matters, that is not a maintenance contract - that is as much as you to do the maintenance stuff.
