Back in our puppy class days, we had a Yorkie in our group. Owner had more trouble than most of us training her dog. Trainer said they were a hard breed to train. She may or not be right, but a puppy or dog training class is a great idea. Though people at this site often recommend PetSmart. I had already trained my dog using techniques from a different trainer my first dog had. I went as abused dog needed socialization. Dog turned out to have kennel cough, so we couldn't join class. They wouldn't give money back or give me a class later, rather I had to have private class--not my purpose. We learned a trick and she mostly found out my dog was trained, and offered little, When we rejoined the class, they all had untrained dogs and were making over how much my dog had learned. I told them where to find better training next. There's better classes out there! Also check out clicker training. Makes a lot of training get understood faster and more positve and fun.

Well, you see... dogs are like kids. You need to have a lot of patience and when you're training them... make sure they're in the mood. Not too playful or bored. NEVER YELL OR BEAT YOUR DOG. It will make your dog afraid and it will be even worse! Train your dog simple tricks like sit, down, stay, shake etc. Give him treats if he follows your command. OK. Let's say you want to train your dog to lie down... If you see your dog lying down, you just approach him and say "lie down" and give him a treat. Keep practicing this and one day, your dog will get it.
Never train your dog to do unusual tricks like balance on 2 legs or bow or what. You must be very patient and you don't seem to be a very patient guy. Another way is crouch beside your dog and massage his shoulder and legs and say "lie down" or "down" slowly. He won't understand your command though. He will feel relax when you massage him and will naturally lie down. Then, give him a treat. You should train your dog everyday so he won't forget. It also goes for all the other tricks. GOOD LUCK!

Watch 'The Dog Whisperer' if it shows in your area. I have always just used talking and gentle correction - no yelling or hitting, I keep small bit of treats to reward good behavior in the beginning and move to verbal praise and 'pets' later on. We have taken in large Dobermans, Rottweilers and now a huge Pit Bull. They all learn their manners from their 'Mom'.

I would take it to Petco so that experts can take care of him, that way, its not your prob, and if they dont train it right, you can blame them and not yourself. It might be expensive, but it does wonders, I loved how my dogs were trained there. Hope my advise helps. Peace and love for you and your dog. Bye. Luv/Kodi

In General Terms: Consistently! Be very consistent, keep an even tone, and reward good behavior when it is exhibited!
