Are we in denial? Or just don't care about our health?

Alot of people are in denial but then there are the people that are just flat out lazy and dont care to change or take care of themselves the way that they should. And now it is spreading to the kids of the us. Parents are letting food and television babysit their kids cus they dont want to take the time to take care of themselves or the lives that they brought into this world. So obesity will continue to grow as a problem b/c it is being spread to our future as well unless become more aware and less lazy.

If they admitted it then they would not be in denial. And they say they care about their health but never change,, because if they did, then yet again they would have to admit they where obese...

I think most people are in denial. They don't want to be obese, so they say that they aren't, in part probably because of the health-related problems of obesity.
PS: I'm not obese!

I think lots of folks are in denial but it is a serious problem. Americans are big eaters and so many good people sedate on food. And..with the food reminders all over the place, it is sooo hard to resist temptation. When driven by food addictions or cravings, those are powerful emotions that override logic many times---and I mean the logic of doing what's right for one's health.

Maybe it's because 8 out of 10, not 9 out of 10, are obese? (1/5 = 2/10... right?)

Actually it is because the standards for obesity are incorrect. It is established by "body mass index" which is seriously flawed! When I was body building I was 5'6" and 212 lbs. Female. According to BMI I was well over a 30, but in fact, I was less than 6% body fat. BMI said I was obese......but that's not possible.....

Speaking as an obese man, I'm comfortable with my weight. But I'm losing it little by little. I don't understand why so many people are worried about how others might look. Kind of like seeing a couple making out on the bus;if you don't like it,look the other way
And if you don't know me,don't judge me by my appearance..

It's easy to be in denial with all the adice-givers out there encouraging you to "love you for who you are"...

And I think most people care about their health - but a lot of those who care are too ignorant about health issues to be very healthy.

I'm skinny, but it's a result of having a really high metabolism, because I'm also guilty of not taking very good care of myself!

Maybe they truly don't know or understand. It's really hard to tell if you're obese if everyone around you is as well. Furthermore, there's no really perfect weight or whatever for people based on specific height and age. =P
