It is not known for sure if the Mayans did human sacrifices, but it is suspected since the Olmec, Toltec, and Aztec peoples did.
And for the historical record the Spanish did not conquer the Maya...the Mayan civilization had ended and the cities had been buried which led to the rise of the Olmecs, Toltecs, and of course the Aztecs (whom the Spanish did conquer) (and the Inca in South America). The Maya people remained, but only as a small tribal group (they exist today) and at the time they did not (and do not even to this day) practice human sacrifice.

Most Pagans of ancient times practiced human sacrifice. I don't know if the Mayans did, but I wouldn't be surprised.
