Nope. Violence in television, video games, books, music, etc... is fiction. Exception: News. People are only influenced by television, movies, music, etc...if they don't have their wires connected straight in their heads. People that are easily swayed to commit violent acts by others or by external influences do not belong free in society. They have something wrong with them and their parents or the legal system should place them behind bars.

I've been a fan of movies and TV and music and video games all my life. I love the Three Stooges, Die Hard, violent first-person shooting video games, Alice Cooper, Star Wars, Stephen King, etc...etc... I've not blown one thing up, not killed or assualted one person, or even so much as kicked a cat.

People need to accept responsibility for their own actions and not put the blame on external factors. Stupid is as stupid does.

I think that the violence on television is a reflection of the amount of and acceptance of violence in society. I also think that the amount of violence an individual witnesses (in reality or on TV) influences their acceptance of violence. It's a cycle, society influencing entertainment, and entertainment reflecting and influencing society.

yes, Television leads to violence. it jades the senses, making the horrific seem commonplace. do you know who else believes that television influences people? The people who invest billions of dollars a year on advertising, that's who. Explain to me how someone can assert that programming doesn't have an effect, but advertising does have an effect..... no wonder they call it the Idiot Box.

No. I do think that good old fashioned parental involvement would stop it. If parents cared about raising their children and put some effort into it, we cut radically reduce crime. Now, here is the answer to the question; crime is high due to the destruction of the traditional families. If you ask the majority of criminals, they grew up in fatherless homes OR their Father did and he too was a criminal. it all goes back to the family. Parents, you gotta raise your children to be responsible members of society and not victims who always think they are getting picked on because they didn't get their "entitlement" check from the government. Society begins in the home.

No because if that was so everyone would be violint and not everybody is. If parents teach their kids right from wrong and they teach what is on the tv is not real then the kids should know that they can get into trouble if they do that in real life. I watch violence things on tv and i do not go out and shoot up people or steal or be violent to others becasue i know that it is wrong and i do not like hurting others too and my parents tought me that is not right to be mean to others.

Yes. I believe we are becoming desensitized (sp?). We believe that we have "extra lives" and that people have no story. They're just robots.

I think the violence and sex on television says a lot about our society and the direction we've headed.

There are many examples of people who are and are not obviously affected by what they look at a lot on TV, but on average let's be real people, what you see repeatedly is going to affect you to some extent and what most people see will effect the general attitudes of the population, Individual examples are not adequate to explain the effect of TV on society. One has to look at the behavior change of the group over a period of time to see the trend and do the research to connect the dots. Regardless of individual stories on either side of the question what is acceptable by the group will change over time according to what is seen and shown on TV and movies, heard on the Radio and in the music, seen in person, etc. Haven't you heard the truism, "By beholding we become changed" ?

NO this damn country is so anal over this type of crap.
If people would stop over thinking about this stupid crap like this maybe our kids would be more adjusted.
Bugs bunny is a F---ing cartoon and I for one believe that children are smart enough to know the difference. If one kid beats another with a bat that kid has a problem not all the kids.
We grow up with "the violent cartoons" and most of us turned out to be (so called) normal.

Those who say it doesnt need only to look at the 20 billion dollar advertising industry. If commercials diddnt have the power to influence people and dramatically effect society they wouldnt spend a dime on it. This is a sex and viol;ece saturated culture. What we view , we process. Not everyone can process it and filter it out. Yeah, tv and movies promote crap.
