It depends on your hospitals policy. I say hide a camcorder in the room and have it on, just make sure they don't find it. I got to video tape the birth of my first. It was something the hospital allowed back then (9 yrs ago). By the time I had my 2nd child, 2 yrs and 3 mo. later the hospital banned the taping of deliveries. We were allowed to do before and after but not during. They say it's for safety reasons? Yeah so when they mess up they can save themselves and we won't have proof of their mess up. I do suggest if you video tape it to do it from the side angle. You want to beable to show friends, family, and one day your son/daughter. Make it a good memory not a bloody one :)

I have definitely heard of video taping a birth. In fact I will be taping this birth when that time comes, God willing nothing goes wrong. To those who will want to see it, it will be a beautiful thing. If they think it is gross than they don't need to watch. I know pretty surely that if your hospital does allow it most likely not in a c-section. To risky with bacteria and non sterile stuff. But any normal, uncomplicated birth is usually allowed...
Good Luck!

It depends mostly on your dr. When you pre register at the hospital they will tell you if you can have cameras and stuff then. You just need to tell your dr that you want to video the birth. We were going to but my dr (last minute substitution, I HATED her) wouldnt even let them take photos. Some Dr's are so paranoyed about being sued for malpractice they forget its our bodies and if I want to photograph or video the birth I should be able to darn it! Thankfully my cousin was EXTREEMLY excited and took the you cant do that until after the birth to mean as soon as he was out and she snaped his first photo within seconds of him being born. Unfortunatly due to the dr my whole birthplan was thrown out the window and I didnt get to have my kangroo care (baby and mom together the first hour chest to chest ASAP) and it took what felt like HOURS but was closer to 20-30 minutes before I got to hold my baby for the first time. That is why I'm going birthing center this time. Its sooo much more relaxed and calm!

It depends on the hospital. I was told that i could take pics of the birth but no video taping b/c if they "mess" up they dont want that cold-hard proof. But u can video tape up until the actual birth. Ask your hospital ahead of time and bring lots of film!

ask the hospital and your doctor. if they say no, I think that's a bad sign.
When I was 8 months pregnant I took a hospital tour at my doctor's hospital.
they told me I could not video tape the actual birth.
I changed my insurance plan and found a new doctor, and a new hospital that had no restrictions on video cameras.
I never did video tape it and I never intended to. It was simply my way of checking to see how much I could trust my doctor.

I only ran into one small problem when I videotaped the birth of my daughter. I wanted to witness her birth with my own eyes, not through a viewfinder, so I held the camera over my head.

I got some great video of the O.R. ceiling!!!

I know someone who pooped at the same time as she was pushing the baby out. And now she has this on tape. I don't know how she feels, but I wouldn't want anyone else in the world to see that if it were me.

Some hospitals and doctors do not allow it because of liability issues and possible malpractice suits. It depends on the policy where you will be giving birth. Check with them.

i'm against taping. i bear in strategies as a newborn, flipping via image albums and getting to the start photos. eew. i on no account had to work out my mothers vagina. nevertheless dont. so the %. had to be for her. as quickly as I had my first, i banned vaginal %.. i do no longer want to work out that mess, or be reminded that confident the pinnacle grew to become into as vast because it felt. and that i dont think of she will ever want to work out my vagina. as for exhibiting the relatives, no way. i dont want to divulge my vagina to anybody. i had a infant, shes right here and properly, shall we go away out the messy artwork. im no longer immature in any respect, in fact i think of the full technique is grimy and disgusting. sperm come from the comparable place as pee. intercourse is sewaty, and often times bushy. fluids are gross. and the child swims in his own pee for 9 months, ingesting it and recycling it. i attempt to no longer think of approximately maximum of it. whomever sais its a acceptable technique is twisted. its grimy and gross yet necessairy. i think of the video is for your self. in spite of the fact that it would be a stable abstinance video while she is a tween. so she will see how lots start sucks.
